Never owned a Toyota and our truck is very dependable(2006 F150). No problems ever. Oh yeah its also a flex fuel. I don't know how good Toyotas are but I have seen some Japanese cars and trucks rust out after time. I know our f150 was made to last in the snow, rain or heat.
American made to last.
All manufactures have their share of lemons.
I had an Isuzu and it had all kinds of leaks and rust. I know it’s not a Toyota but it had the same engine in it as a Honda.

Knowing that most of trucks owners don't use their trucks for work, I'm pretty sure that Toyota's engine will last longer.
Ford's quality has improved, but they're still behind Toyota.

Because
a) I got such a good deal on F-150 that I couldn't turn it down. It was during employees discounts.
and
b) Back then Tundra looked like this:

F-150 isn't perfect. Brakes are horrible and many owners who live in places where it gets really cold have to replace alternators because there is some really annoying noise. I'm waiting until winter to replace alternator on my truck since I don't hear that noise now.
And I've been reading that many 5.4L owners have a misfire in cylinders.
Overall, I'm happy with my truck, but I still don't think Ford's quality is as good as Toyota's.
I just replaced front calipers on my Mustang at only 50,000 miles (I had to replace read calipers at only 30,000 miles). My mom's Camry is 14 years old and it has over 151,000 miles on the odometer and still driving with the original calipers.

First of all I have owned (1) Toyota, it was the wife's 2005 Sequoia based off the older Tundra platform as seen above. I currently own a 2006 F-150 Supercrew 4x4 Lariat with 5.5' bed and the 5.4l engine. My last truck was a 2002 F-250 Superduty Crew Cab 4x4 Lariat with short bed and 5.4l engine. And the truck before that was a 1999 F-250 Superduty Super Cab 4x4 XLT with short bed and 5.4l engine. We traded in the Sequoia on my wife's 2007 Expedition EL Eddie Bauer. I have had the Expedition 13 months with no problems. So A+ in the so called initial quality. The Toyota had a malfunctioning rear window motor that had to be replaced twice in the first 6 months of ownership. Had to have passenger seat control replaced due to a malfunction there. Also the ball joints on front suspension had to be replaced on Sequoia due to a factory recall. I did notice a difference in the feel of the front end after this replacement. I prefered the ride before the change, it was less harsh. While I did not hate the vehicle at all, I didn't enjoy driving it. I enjoy this Expedition far more than that Sequoia. Truck wise I have no comparison so I can't speak for the actual Tundra. My F-150 though, as I have said here many times before, is the best vehicle I have owned. I sincerely plan to keep this truck another 4 years and then give it to my daughter as her first car when she turns 16. It has never seen the inside of the Ford dealers service department. I did get a recall on an item here last month, but I don't remember what it was for right now. I tend to drive it a little hard, sometimes I forget I'm not in the Mustang, and it never fails to respond perfectly in a corner, with 1,500 lbs. of mulch in the bed, or with a loaded 32' trailer behind it full of furniture.
Also, I have no idea how this translates to the 2009. I think Ford does a great job with their trucks, as Toyota does with all its vehicles. It's easy for me to choose, because I've always had good luck with Ford trucks.

and that's saying something, the new tundras are too big and too ugly. I'd much rather have one of the new f-150's, f-250's, etc, the new styling looks great on the super dutys
