I like the sound of the '11 5.0., nice tone to it. Now please don't hate but I'm a pushrod guy and a pushrod V8 always had a great sound and there is nothing sweeter than a cammed 347 at idle
does the 5.0 have a X pipe? I like the 4.6 better.
the BEST sounding car Ive ever been around was a buddies 66 327/325 vette with factory chambered sidepipes and open element airfilter...second best was a buddies 05 mustang with a K/N cai and Corsa mufflers- really nice, but think the mufflers were about 700 bucks!
the stock 3v 4.6 stickshift has a very nice sound IMO, even the older 2v 4.6's had a neat sound...the pre-05 though to me have more of a howl to them, but the 4.6s all still had a similar sound.
the fang shaker on mine has a very restrictive looking airbox duct, but you sure can hear it- perhaps as it resonates thru the hollow hood... doubt if it added any power, but looks and sounds good to me- even if heavy as heck
the 05 automatics seem a bit quieter, but maybe just because you dont letoff when shifting- they still sound good, but the sticks seem to have a bit more of a low rumble, kinda like the old 'hushthrush' did- those sound cool behind a bigblock
to me flowmasters have a kinda hollow sound at part throttle- and a bit louder than I'd care for. heck on my mark VII I had no mufflers- just the factory cats(4) and little 2" duals, it wasnt as loud as some flowmasters Ive heard (but the mark has some pretty restrictive looking pipes...)
if you ever get a chance. take a ride in a old sidemount vette- even though a bowtie, its hard not to be anything but impressed with the sound. check out a corsa equipped mustang too- pricey, but man does it sound great.

5.0 may be the better performer but the 4.6 sounds better.
