Corvette Grand Sport vs Mustang 5.0
based on the daily driving of each what would be better.
I don't really care about trunk space or the fact the Stang has a back seat. I will rarly use it being I will be the only one driving the car.
What do you yall think.

I really wish Ford would build a dedicated sports car, but like the Mustang, the Corvette is an icon and a tough segement to crack for a domestic manufacturer (well as far as history speaks).

Similar delima, so I'll put my 2 cents in here.
My choice is between a used Z06 and new SS vert.
I'm leaning alot more towards the vette (a possible Z28 could sway that the other way) at this point for many reasons. Sure I could make an SS outperform the z06 (as you could the 5.0) but at the cost of what. I built my Z28 that could tangle with a Z06 but it rode like a go cart, was loud, and though it would tangle with it through the 1/4, it couldn't hang with it on anything else on or off track, comfort, gas mileage, neighborhood frinedly, pass any emissions test, durability etc. I liked it that way and will eventually get it back there but it's not going to be a DD. But now I want something more "civillized". Something I could leave stock and be satisfied with but if I modded it it would have a higher starting pont. The 5.0 Vs a GS is less of a performance difference but same theory still applies. If Ford had a Vette derivitive would it even be a question?
The Mustang is probably a lil softer sprung and since the GS shares most of the Z06 suspension parts, a smooth riding Buick it's probably not. Drive them both. The stiffness of the GS should tell you if you can live with it. If you are fine with it I'd say go for the GS. If not, for a DD get the 5.0 after all how many people test the sideways limits on their cars on a day to day basis or have even hit over .80g on purpose? Drag race participants outnumber auto-x by far and large and the Us has more straight roads than really good twisty ones.

The Stang is probably a better daily driver simply by dint of its larger size, lower price and somewhat greater practicality.
The Vette is surely the better all-around performance car if somewhat less practical though hardly unusable as a daily driver.
You could take the ~$15K price difference and mod the Stang to match at least some of the Vette's performance, but as the Vette starts with a fundamentally better performance platform, the resulting Stang would be very compromised in terms of comfort, drive-ability, reliability and usability, not to mention pitching your warranty out the window. And you probably still wouldn't have the full spectrum performance capability of the Vette anyway.
So, like most of these either/or discussions, a lot lies in what you the owner desires as much as anything else. Both are fine, though different, performance cars and you just need to match either one to your own needs and desires.

I am not sure what I will be getting. This car will be a DD. I think 400+ hp either way will be more then enough. I am not really concerned with how hard the ride will be bc I am used to driving my 07 GT. I probably won't be able to afford a GS but a C6 vette is in the cards. I should be able to get one for the same price as a new 5.0
Having driven a 2010 I was really impressed and will definitely test drive an '11.
I think either way I go I will be one happy owner.

As a DD, the GT makes more sense. You'd be less of a target by the "man". I get alot of attention from local law enforcement now as it is. It could only get worse w/a 'vette. Besides, the GT has more room and is cheaper to operate.

I dunno, Corvette has grey panther written all over it. I seem to attract less attention in the GT500 than I did my two previous GTs
