Clowns on the GTO forum
GTO guys have a complex because everyone else outside of their click makes fun of them, even GM guys. They were trolling stangnet pretty "fast and furious" a couple months ago. You just have to let them go. Some of them got stinkered into paying OVER retail for the GTO when it was first released. I bet those first 3 guys are kicking themselves.
The greatest thing is when they say their cars compare to the mustang in price because GM offers a $7000 discount. I wouldnt point to a $7000 discount on a first year limited production sports coupe as a plus.
My dealer still wont go under sticker for a 2005 GT and ford just released sales figures saying sales are 33% higher than last year.

they're just sad their GTPOS can never win any car award like the 05 Mustang can.....
I like how they try and say the Mustang's interior is of less quality; driving a GTO is like driving a sunfire. They're POS'

Imagine the message boards that are going to pop up when the 06 "Charger" hits the streets. I can imagine the designers meeting for this one.
Bob-"Hey, how about we just knock the butt end off the Magnum and put on a trunk?"
Joe-"GREAT IDEA!
Bob-"Now what do you think we should do for the engine?"
Joe-"Hemi?"
Bob-"GREAT IDEA!"
The new Charger is born...........

A guy at the '05 NAIAS in Detroit was livid! He got out of the Charger they had on display and said, "This is crap...with four doors no less!" They should have just called it the Magnum Sedan!

I couldnt agree more. Chrysler dropped the ball on the new charger. They had a good seller in the 300 and tried to rush out just about every car they could based on the platform and in the process ruined an american legend. There are lots of other great names they could have put on the car. Save charger for a 2 door sports coupe and if you put it on a 4 door at least try and make it look like a charger.

Um, I guess I am seeing things, but at least three posters posted that have smoked 05s, GTs and I think there was a 6 in there was well. One of the guys has a video on the site of him beating a Stang at the track.
I dont really care to be honest. I love my car, I think the interior is sweet, and I wouldnt trade it for anything. Ok, well, maybe a Cobra,
Speaking of which, (trading it) I was wiping off a hand print off my pass door in the parking lot of a store today, and this guy in a REALLY REALLY old F150 pulls up, and says, "hey, lets trade." I laughed, and he says, "You just got it, I bet you wont like it..." I said, "Um, not on your life" Then he says, "Then can you dust off my truck while youre at it?" I got in my car and left.

Just have to say... competition is good, the new Mustang looks great and maintains (or restores) the mystique and excitement the older models created. I thought the GTO blurbs were very cool (regarding the stang). These guys accepted the possibility of being out-driven but they also agree that Ford did a good job with the 05!
Some good guys there, some great folks here! I love the Mustang but if I get an 05 build date after 06's come out, I will never be "happy" ordering and waiting on an American car again!

its funny cuz the new GTO looks nothing like it should its also one of the ugliest cars ive seen, i mean come on all of pontiacs cars look EXACTLY the same, id take a mustang over that anyday
Merlot - To answer your question, In my opinon, if the Mustang GT had a supercharger I would say it could take the 05 GTO. As for by how much, I don't know. They are really quick cars. They are real sleepers. As for me, I rather have my 05 GT. It cost alot less, has alot more style in my opinon, and it's a MUSTANG.
JessicaRabbitt, I can't speak for the other post'ers, I can only speak from my personal experiance(SP). It has alot to do with the driver. When I ran against the GTO, it was very close all the way up to third gear. Anyways, just my two cents.

I am considering buying the GT Mustang I have on order, or an 05 GTO on the way to a local dealer. The best deal I can get on the GTO is $500 under sticker. I can get the Mustang for X-plan, which is almost $9000 difference. I believe the GTO is over-priced by about $3000, but the Australian Holden it is based on is almost $10k more expensive than the GTO in US dollars. It is a really tough decision for me, even considering the greater cost for the GTO. I plan on driving the GTO to help make my decision. I'm not loyal to either Ford or GM, but just a car lover who likes horsepower.
I like the exterior appearance of the Mustang much better, but the interior of the GTO is in another league. The seats are more comfortable, the telescoping steering wheel fits better, and the car has a better looking dash panel. I also believe the LS2's torque will be hard to beat and the car's suspension is probably is tuned a little softer, so it will ride better than GT especially since it has the IRS.
Both cars have great sounding exhaust systems, but they really are different cars. The GTO is a grand touring car, and the Mustang still holds true to its pony car roots.

I liked this quote, I mean I see 1 or 2 on a car lot and they are gone within the week I dont know where he is hanging around?
The '04 Goat will spank the '05 GT, the '05 Goat will totally anihilate the GT. I see a lot of the new Mustangs sitting on dealer lots and have seen at least three on used car lots already.

Think of the performance mods you can get for the mustang for $9000.

It just make you wonder why people are trading them in so quick. I saw a used V6 on a street with numerous car dealers in Memphis on the front of the lot last week.

As far as them being on used car lots, that is probably true, but the used car lots are selling them as new cars, the car has never been owned, they are just trying to take advantage of how well the car is selling and mark them up.

I'd be curious to see an 05 auto GT matched against an 05 auto GTO. I've been amazed by the 5 speed auto on the Mustang. It shifts solid and fast. Almost everyone who has ridden in my car has commented on that. Sure, the GTO has more hp, but can the 4-speed auto in it handle that?

I haven't seen any numbers yet on the '05 GTO, but the auto '04 GTO was quite a bit slower than the manual.
" and something i heard about the 05 GT's is that they are getting crazy discounts already, bad sign that they aint selling well being this earily in their release."
