Chevy vs. Import

I know some of you (I am aware not all) have declared war on Chevy. But what are you less hostile towards, a Vette or a riced out Honda? I would guess most of you would be more on the side of the American.

I have nothing against chevy. I just prefer Fords. But I do hate imports. They just get to be annoying after awhile! So I'd definately choose a chevy over an import!

If I had to go with GM, I would go with Pontiac.

Chevy vs Imports ... Chevy all the way.

Chevrolet is a great american car company, they make great cars, and i feel proud when i drive one. To declare war on Chevrolet is pointless, Ford, Chevrolet. They are both American, they are more allies than enemies. I owned a Pontiac before i owned my Mustang. And i would have no problem buying a Chevrolet, or any other GM car again.

Import cars are an insult to every person that ever built anything in this country. They prey among the ignorant population, misleading them to believe that their cars or trucks get better gas mileage than American cars. Or that they are more reliable, when you have people believing that just because it's a Toyota, with a honking 5.7L V8 engine, it must get better gas mileage than that 5.3L or 6.0L chevrolet engine! Not because it's larger or smaller, just because it's Japanese. Same goes for Consumer Reports. If its American designed, it must suck according to them. Not that we were the first to make the car available to everyone or anything, a small achievement in the world of automobiles it seems.

Do I even have to answer that one? Chevy pwnz all !!11!1!!1!

I think it's more brand rivalry than an all out war for most one here that I've seen. Many are down to earth and just poke and prod like I do. But its just like the inter rivalry in the US armed forces. We in the Marines ride the Army like wet noodles and think the AF are a bunch of air conditioned pansy's and not going to even begin to start on the "puddle pirates" but for the most part its in jest, when it all boils down we all know who is with who. Just like in this arena only on a little less serious note.

Now there are a few on here that don't have a clue but in all honesty theres several in many of my GM based sites like that too so its all good. The dumb ones cancel each other out on both sides and the real car nuts can get along. Hell I ride my cousin (a Ford nut) that I'd rather push a Chevy than drive a Ford but we both know that isn't true especially when I ride/drive my wifes Escape often and when she gets her mustang I will ride/drive/mod it too. Anyone who would actually follow the whole "I'd rather push xxxx than drive xxxx" is either retarded or rides a huffy for a DD.

I've owned and driven most all types of cars.
I wouldn't buy a Camaro/Firebird because I didn't feel comfortable in them, not because I hate GM.
I love my Mustang, but if I had more garage space I'd buy a Corvette too (maybe someday I'll get a beater to leave outside).
I HATE STUPID LOOKING LITTLE CARS (lots of exterior mods) THAT BUZZ AROUND LOUDLY AND CAN"T GO FASTER THAN MY 4CYL.TRUCK.
There... I've said it.

I support american muscle first and foremost. I am not a brand snob, but i do like to give the chebby snobs a hard time at every opportunity. I can appreciate a tastfully modded car no matter what the orogin, but I HATE RICE. American muscle cars are not immune to the ricer virus....I can happen to the best of them. I have seen some of the worst rice offenses on even more expensive cars (porsche owners are notorious for spoiler envy)

I drove Chevys for years and never had a problem. Reliable as hell and inexpensive to maintain. Yep, I'd take a Chevy over an import. My only compliant with GM is that they don't have much for "enthusiasts" cars except for the Corvette and that was way out of my price range. The rest of thier product line is pretty bland.

I want Ford to be sucessful. But...if GM comes up with a way to do it better, then Ford needs to pay attention. It will be 2009 before we see a production Camaro (is that correct?). GM seems to be way behind in the pony car arena once again. But perhaps only the Viper comes close to matching the 'Vette. Ford blew it with the most recent Thunderbird but seems to have learned its lesson and applied it to the new Mustang (for which I am grateful). Where's the hybrid small car from Ford? Where's the Ford product that matches Lexus? Lexus is only a machine - you can't tell me Ford can't build to that level.

Lexus? All it is, is an overpriced Toyota... Sure it can park itself, but any car can park without you driving... why else do we get married?

My first car was a 76 Monte Carlo and I loved it!! I sold it to buy my 87 Gt Vert in 86, don't regret it. If I could not have a Ford then this is the order I would buy...
Ford
Dodge
GM
Walk or ride my bike.

I wish the big three would stop beating up on each other and see who the real enemy is.

I love the Nascar Toyota comercial that states....Thanks for having us!!

Well who invited you?!!!! Not me.

The idea of declaring war on a car company is silly, no matter who it is. And anti-import sentiment is just as silly, especially since many of those companies employ American workers now. Imports aren't the problem, they're competition. If a company can't deal with competition it doesn't deserve to stay in business, frankly. As I said, Imports aren't the enemy, The Big 3 have a different enemy.
If you're wondering what I'm talking about, it's simple. There is a foreign car company that has it's own, serious problems. That company is Mitsubishi, and they share one common trait with the Big 3. Their American factories are all UAW.

I don't feel hostile toward either Chevy or imports. I've been an import owner in the past, and respect the capabilities of the faster ones. The riced-out Civics and Integras bombing around town... I think everyone laughs at them haha. And you can't argue with the performance of a Corvette. Basically, as long as a car performs well and looks good, I like it.
