Smile Can you believe, someone in a Cobalt SS wanted to race me??

Had this young kid pull up next to me in his black Cobalt SS and rev'd his engine. I turned down the tunes and rolled the window down and cupped my hand to my ear. He rev'd it again.

I looked over at him and smiled and mouthed nice try and rolled up my window again, turning up my tunes and eased on down the road.

A side note, can anyone find what kind of performance this thing has???

I have looked and all I see is 12 PSI of boost. ok, wow.

I think Cobalt's 1/4 mile is mid 14s.

Those 12 pounds aren't good for much. It puts out 205 HP. Guy must've thought you had a V6!

Your milage may vary.

From Car & Driver:
Cobalt SS Supercharged
205 HP / 200 lbs-ft TQ
0-60: 5.9 sec
1/4 mile: 14.4 sec @ 100 mph

Dodge SRT-4
230 HP/ 250 lbs-ft TQ
0-60: 5.3 sec
1/4 mile: 13.9 sec @ 103 mph

Based on that, I'd worry about the Dodge more than the Chevy.

The Cobalt SS is a little underrated from what I have read. With a chip and a pulley, he could give you a good race... that is of course, if the driver of the stang is really sloppy

It was not a supercharged version. just a regular SS. most of the numbers above is for the S/C version.

Right -- non-supercharged Cobalt SS is 171 HP / 163 lbs-ft TQ. Still not bad for a 4-banger, but no match for a Mustang GT.

OH that Scion. is that an ugly car or what......the element almost has it beat in the "what ride won't get you laid" race. I am sorry that was bad.

But it is ugly.

I thought the "SS" version of the Cobalt only came with the blown motor. Why would they offer two versions of that car?

It's GM folks. Need I say more? Honestly I've looked for an article explaining why GM would offer both a non-supercharged SS and a supercharged SS for the Cobalt, but I can't find one.
