I kind of like the Lancia with that Martini paint scheme. I had a die-cast toy car a kid that had the Martini paint scheme on it, it was my fave. It's funny but the Ford looks like rice to me, maybe those ricers know what their doing with all those ground effects. Oh I forgot they don't have 600 hp to make the downforce work.

It would be close between the Lancia and the RS2000. I always thought the RS was a very neat little car in its day, but I love the Pinninfarina styling of the Lancia Monte Carlo / X/20 / Martini rally car.
All those appendages on these cars are the furthest thing from "rice" or "corn" in that these are deadly serious and functional engineering elements rather than pseudo-performance affectations.

I'm with Rhumb. Very nearly bought a Lancia Scorpion once upon a time which was the street going version of the above, kinda regret taking a pass on that one. Still, as gorgeous as the Italian is my initial reaction is to give the nod to the RS200 if I'm faced with buying one of these monsters. Truly ridiculous speed is a difficult thing to pass up....the car basically got an entire class of racing banned....and frankly, what else are race cars really here for?

I know that. But look at them. This looks like where the rice came from. Ricers took body parts that mimic these very fast cars and stuck them on there to make their cars look like these. Obviously there is some connection there, the similarities are astounding.

Ricer law of "aero body parts": If it works for a race car or if it looks outlandish enough, then putting it on a street car will automatically make it faster. Have to go with the RS2000 even if it is a beast to drive - just ask Jeremy Clarkson!

I'd take the RS200, but the Audi Quattro Trans-am would be a very close second.

True, but, if it is functional and necessary, it isn't rice. In all three of the examples, that is clearly the case.

Yup. You got me. I love me some 'corn'. But I would say 100% for looks. I'm not dumb enough to think it makes any difference perfomance wise other than making car heavier and probably even more drag. But, to me, it looks good.

To be fair, the very same could be said of what I call "Corn," all the same useless psuedo-performance fake scoops, vents, wings, spoilers, etc. that are found on oh so many Mustangs. Often these "Rice" put-downs are very hypocritical in that a fake hood scoop won't make a Mustang go any faster any more than on a Civic -- all aesthetics aside.

Rice = tacky, useless Asian car tack ons
Corn = tacky, useless American car tack ons
? = tacky, useless European car tack ons.....
Either way, I don't like it much wherever it comes from. And it still kinda cracks me up about people who will rail against how silly "Rice" looks and is, and it is silly, yet get all rapturous about the equally silly scoops and spoilers stuck on poor, unfortunate Mustangs.
But that's just me and the cutest thing to Mr. Toad is Mrs. Toad.
