1987 camaro Vs. 2005 V6 what do you all think?

I hope the camaro would be a 4 banger or V6

well my buddy had a late 80's IROC and my 91 stock GT conv. easily smoke it. My car ran 14.6 stock (91 droptop), so i would assum it would be a good race, the better drive would probebly win

 

if yours is a V6 stang... then no. I'd put my money on the IROC sorry

 

this is probably goin to go to the "which is better" section, like the one about your buddy with the WRX.

 

yea, im not going to race them im only 16 and im not going to risk it. But I was just wondering since they ask me to race.

 

Why bother, what's the point? It's an 87 Camaro... who cares?

Hey I bought a V6 with a stick and it moves just fine! Besides, 87 camaro even with a v8 has probably been beaten on so it's not what it was. Remember, todays v6 Mustangs are just as powerful as 87 Mustang GT's, as far as horsepower goes. I say it will definatley come down to the best driver. They are just jealous cause you have an 05 Stang and they drive a 87 Ca- ma- ro, sorry chocking on laughter!

 

no. my friend has a stock 1987 camaro and it runs 14.5 sec 1/4 miles. Far as i know thats quite a bit faster than the 05 V6.

 

my friends 87 camaro runs the 1/4 mile in....


well....my watch only goes up to 15mins...

i'm just trying to be realistic here. This site cracks me up sometimes... i can really see why people think that the majority of mustang owners have that "attitude" i hear so much about. As much as i love my mustangs... stock, realistically they really *aren't* the fastest things out there. 90% of my friends cars can beat my GT. Thats why i plan on supercharging my second 05 when it gets here... gotta keep up ya know

 

i should have added that his car has not been taken car of and has alot of problems, which account for the poor time.

If it's a 305 5-speed, you'll beat it. The 350 auto IROC-Z could be a quick car if driven properly. Take them to the track and find out!

 

Well, you don't have to do it illegally. Take the car to your local drag strip and run him! Even if you lose, just the fact that your V6 can keep up with his V8 is an accomplishment! Besides, racing at a drag strip is certainly a fun experience!

 

This thread reminds me of the two oriental kids in the movie "Better Off Dead" with John Cusack. The one in the passenger seat only talks like Howard Cosell cause thats how he learned to speak english and his brother drives!LOL Great movie I WANT MY 2 DOLLARS!!!!!

 

all u tell them is that all you could afford is a V6 cause of payments and insurance, I started out with an 02 V6 Mustang in high school and people made fun of me cause of it, but guess what, they left me alone afterwards cause they had nothing to pick on me about, cause I still had the V6 and most of the cars the kids in my high school wanted to race me with either blew up or they crashed, literally. Also, you just tell them u don't race on the streets cause its not safe, if you want to race them, take them down a drag strip at your near by racetrack Don't let those guys bully you around like that, stand up for yourself, and ur V6!!
