I had an 86 in Jalopino red with t-tops and the non-cruise 3-spoke wheel. One of my favorite cars ever. Sold it in beautiful conditon for no good reason... Best of the Fox bodys. Good luck finding a nice one though. The 82's were terrible cars. The quality went up big time in 85, then got the EFI and our beloved quad-shock setup in 86. Had a decent interior and the mock Recaro seats. The 87 GT was a styling horror show.

There's one like that (only dustier) owned by an older woman across the street from me. I've had thoughts of asking if she wants to sell it.

No kidding - I never could figure out that bizarro mishmash of ground effects, finned wheels and louvered tail lights, and the odd, oversized headlights. I'm sure they were fun to drive, but I sure didn't want one. The LX's actually looked alot better than the GT's (other than the headlights) and even more so once the five spoke rims with the running pony's were available.

I had this exact car. I kept it for 7 years and then traded it in on a '93 Probe GT. I liked that car okay, but the '86 GT was one of my favorites. I took out MANY Z28s and IROCs with that car. And to think, it was sporting 2.86 gears. I can imagine how fast it would've been with 3.55s or something in there.

I went with the '02. From a pure technical stand point it's a superior car to the '82. Just about all 1980's American cars suffered from build quality issues, poor materials, ect.
