Ok, I'll play...since this car was lacking in love (& I'm biased towards it)..lets hear it..fairly weak engine, crappy tranny, but aggressive look.. I like the SN95's just fine.. but the 4-eyes (particularly 79-82's) just really do it for me.

Sorry bro. I have very little love for the four-eye style. The SN95's though... best modern Mustangs in my opinion.
Not really fair to compare the two though. But compare it to most anything else of that time and we have a winner.

I had to go with the '02....make mine a redfire vert with a black top, Black leather, bullits, and a 5speed.
Went with the '02! I love each, but I think the '02 is just a little better. Make it an '86 GT, and I almost die for it!

stock vs stock..........sorry but idk on this one.
i do see alot more sn95's though, at my school we have 8 S197 V6's, A 79 stang and an 04 GT so a fox is gonna be rare..in my case anyways

I think the original "four-eyed foxes" were the most cohesive and integrated of all the FoxStangs. Even the quasi-fake hood scoop -- it did provide clearance room for the air cleaner housing -- looked of-a-piece rather than a tacked on afterthought. While the various later Fox body and Fox chassis Stangs certainly functioned better and went faster, few if any could match the looks of the '82 GT which just sort of gelled perfectly. Latter models just looked a bit more piecemeal stylingwise and pretty much all post '93 Stangs looked like a body one size too big for the underlying chassis.
While a slow poke today, in the context of its times -- the performance-dead mid to late '70s and early '80s, it was a revelation and harbinger of much better times to come, a performance car renaisscance that we're still enjoying. What a joy it was to drive one and actually hear a V8 with a healthy rumble rather than sounding like a Hoover with a sock stuck in it.

I had a Capri RS 5.0 which was basically the same car with a slightly different look. I really enjoyed the car but between the factory 2 barrel that GOD HIMSELF couldn't get to work right and the toasted SROD tranny that cost me $1,100 to rebuild it didn't exactly leave a great taste in my mouth.
In hind-sight I should've kept the car and did a T-5 conversion and a Holley 600VS/Vic Jr. manifold swap. The car would've been awesome equipped that way I'm sure.
I voted '82.

I went with 2002.
I owned both a 1981 and a 2002 'Stang. (yes, the 1981 was a 2.3l, no 5.0l available that year).
The 1981 was an incredible POS. It suffered from all sorts of quality maladies and I launched the thing for my 1989 Mustang GT - a far superior vehicle and the crowning achievement of the Fox body line.
But between 1982 and 2002 the SN95 wins hands down! I loved my 2002! (just not as much as my 2005...
