Found some stats: for the 1999 3000GT VR4
"How capable?" you ask. Our testing netted a 5.4-second zero to 60 time, which makes only the Viper GTS (4.9 seconds) and the BMW M roadster (5.25 seconds) quicker in Edmund's® performance-test database. This puts the Mitsu ahead of the Corvette, NSX and Porsche 911 we recently tested. The 3000GT also scorched the quarter-mile in 14 seconds flat at 105 mph and stopped from 60 mph in a chest-compressing 125 feet (remember, this car weighs 4,000 lbs. with a driver aboard). "

Thanks Lalo, guess at 4000 lbs they're not as "quick" as the GT and unless modified would never be able to "catch up". Curious how easy they are to modify. Anyway, looks like a pretty decent race depending on drivers.

But which car is nicer looking The Mustang of course!

I agree Lalo its a drivers race, but I still think the GT would win.

I must be seeing a bit older models than the '99....because the one pictured has a different look to it.

it must be an older model, because i think '99 was the last year of the 3000gt

the 90s cars were nicer then the 99 looks wise.

a 3000 GT blew by us in new Jersey in the opposite lane, and he was going by traffic pretty good

3000GT non-awd, non turbo (slow)
3000GT VR4(awd/TT)

The VR4 used to be 300hp before 95 (if i'm not mistaken) then they went up in hp to 320HP.

Here a link to performance #'s by year:

My buddy has the Dodge version, a Stealth, which looks better IMO. And yeah, the thing is FAST! Twin turbo 6 is nothing to sneeze at. I do think the new Mustang GT would edge it out, though, mostly due to the weight differential. Also, the 3000GT has AWD, which would whoop a Stang off the line.

Turbo Lag you say? Not quite. the turbo lag in these cars are not noticeable at all. I had one for about 6 months. A 95 3000GT VR-4, as far as racewise, the Mustang should win it out.

And I know I'm going to get flamed like I did in the other which is better debate (the Supra thread) but I think the 300GT VR-4 is a beautiful car and due to its' rarity in America, make it an essence of imported tuner cars. Come on Andy I know you're going to start.

Here We Go !!!!

Nah, I can quasi-respect the 3000GT, would I buy one? No. Do I despise it? Nah. I ain't gonna flame you buddy, now if it were a toyota.... hehehe. Just kidding I don't like the EVO at all but thats becasue I'm more of a WRX STi fan

But hey Matt, you're alright . You've turned to the light side of the force with your Stang!!
