2nd Eclipse GS-T Kill
Ok guys,
please don't preach to me about the perils of street racing. I try to avoid it most of the time, but sometimes I just can't help myself.
That said, I was driving home from the movies with my gf friday night around 1am, when a 2nd Gen Eclipse pulls up next and I can hear it's BOV whistling. He revs his engine and pulls ahead about a car length, taunting me on. Well, it was late at night, no cars around, and a nice straight stretch of road, so I decided to take him up on it. From an easy cruising speed at 4th gear, I drop down into 3rd and drop the hammer. I easily walked him by several car lengths and just to prove it wasn't a fluke, I let him catch up and we go at it again. Same result. At this point, I'm feeling very satisfied that I made the right choice of car (I used to own a 96 Talon AWD). As I approach the stop light, I wait for him to pull up next and say"Hey, you wanna try that a 3rd time"?
To my disbelief, he states" "Dude, you never beat me!". Now I'm thinking, are we on the same planet here? At this point, I tell him, "Hey, I used to own one of those!". By this point, his pulling a left onto a side street and making his escape. Hmmm, guess he didn't wanna go a 3rd time? Some guys just can't accept defeat.

That's a good story. And at 1am on a Friday night, unless he had to work at 6 the next morning, he would have raced you and missed his turn if he thought he could beat you. I have missed many a turn, and even been late to work before, just to participate in a street race. I know, I know... racing is not good for your health. But alls I am saying is that if the guy in the Eclipse turned, he gave up. I mean, that's what u-turns are for.

Anyhow, this new Stang rocks! Without a doubt, the best bang for the buck car around!

I personally am not much of a AWD touring kinda guy. Give me a RWD American muscle car over an AWD import anyday. A little wheel hop and wheel spin is not a bad thing in my book. Adds character to your driving experience. And sometimes I like accelerating into a turn with the TC off and sliding around the corner. Is that so wrong?
I guess it's like playing a racing video game and turning on the steering assist. Sure, you have better handling and it's easier. But are you going to have as much fun, or get as excited when you take those turns? Probably not.
