If I'm paying, the Mustang GT. If you're paying, the M3.
Having driven both, overall I find the M3 to be the better car with slightly better engine response, albeit with less torque, better transmissions, slightly better handling feel, and more communicative steering. The M3 also has slightly better fit and finish, but the difference isn't as much as most would think. Are these things worth double the price of the Mustang GT? Absolutely not, especially when you figure in reliability, maintenance, and repair costs. Compared to the Mustang GT, the M3 is a poor value, although it does have more cache with the average person. If I were to spend $70,000 on a car, it would be for a Cayman S, not an M3.

Probably the only other car I'd look at besides
my mustang, only because of the v8. But the price takes care of that quickly

I don't know about you guys, but if you're even comparing an M3 to a car half it's price because it's that close of a match, then the M3 ain't doing it's job, know what I mean? Just because of the fact that you can pit it against a GT....
The Mustang closest to M3 price is the 2012 GT500, and, well, that wouldn't end well for Bavarian Motor Works.

The m3 but the problem is, its VERY over priced, for the money of an m3 i could get something better like an audi RS5, its a little bit more expensive but i think its worth saving a little extra for it.

Price included, the GT is one heck of a performance value that comes a hair's breadth of matching the M3 for performance, at least in raw numbers, at roughly half the price. The penny-pinching does show through in spots, not the least of which is the agrarian lively axle, but even there, Ford does an admirable job of concealing even this neolithic bit's shortcomings.
My prediction is that the 2015 will very nearly match the M3, not only in raw numbers but also in feel, finesse and feedback, again, at roughly half the price.
