So its 2009, Chevy and Dodge both made their musclecars exactly as the concepts showed them. The Challenger has a 425hp 6.1 Hemi, the Camaro has the 400hp 6.0 LS2 thats in the current C6, and the Mustang is by now sitting in the high 300-400hp range. Which would you take assuming they are all priced within a couple grand of each other?

My votes for the Challenger.

Everyone be honest.

I love the stang, but it needs more cubes to keep up with what the others will likely be pushing.

Can't answer. Haven't seen enough of the other two, and don't know what Ford is going to do to the Mustang (*cough* hips *cough*).

Not knowing what the Mustang will be in 2009, I voted for the Challenger

The concept looks great, and I'd take it in a heartbeat

Id have to say the stang. Even though it's down on power compared to the other two you can stilll mod it to get a lot more power out of it.

It is kinda early to start comparing the three (although who can help it). The mustang is due for a minor revamp by then. But I still voted for the Challenger... Ford has better got something under their sleeves to knock the Challenger (Maybe a Grabber Blue Boss SE? )

i do love the stang, and i cant really make my decision yet. at least not yet

i want to see the cars all in person, test drive em (YES! ill be able to do that by then lol) and see what each is really like

now my pre-release judgment is:

I think the Challenger will be the bestest, assuming the stang only gets exteroir things, like hips (which are nice btw)

but if the hp in the base GT gets knocked up to about... 350ish and it gets some 71-73 and/or II styling cues, then its the stang for sure!

Camaro? well... i like it, i really do, but its not quite as nice as the others. and the GTO (since ttheyre like... the same car lol) would get the same decision: cool but not as much as DCX and Fords offerings

so yeah, its a toss up between the Challenger and Stang for me.

oh and one more thing the challenger has going for it is that i already have to best darn looking stang of all time i mean, what more do i need?

Well having seen the "leaked" spy photos of the Challenger, my heart dropped. Suddenly our 05's/06's aren't so retro anymore, are they?

The new Challenger and its 6.1 Hemi, if it's produced (and it probably will judging from the reaction it'll no doubt get at NAIAS), will replace alot of Mustangs if Ford doesn't pull up their socks and inject some significant HP and displacement by then. DC missed the boat with that butt-ugly, poor excuse for a car they call the Charger but they're gonna more than make up for it with the Challenger - if it looks like it does in the photos.

While I'm fanatically happy with mine, those photos of the Dodge brought back fond memories of my weekly stroll to a local Chryco dealer. I was 9 when the Challenger came out and I've loved it ever since. Excepting the lack of chrome on the front/rear bumper areas, the concept doesn't look any different than what I saw in the showroom 35 years ago. Now that's retro !!!!

Like it was many years ago, Mustang is the original all others just copies.
If Mustang has taken hits because of its "retro" nature the Challenger is just a plain old copy.

Oh and also pushrods went out with the 20th century!

My 71 440 R/t 500 Hp The engine is Far From Stock!

I welcome the Other Models for a Couple of Reasons. First Maybe Ford will get it in gear and give us some more Features and Horsepower. Competition Improves the Breed! Also it's Another American Car out there vs the Import Market. Of Course all the Big Three are Not as American as they once were but it is Better than Selling more Nissan etc. Because more Dollars are kept in The U.S., Heh FORD Time to Step it Up! BUY AMERICAN While you Still Have a Choice! If Not there may be a FORDZUKI or CHEVDAI in Your Future. :bang: We already got a DODGEBENZ!

By 2009 my current GT will be heavily modified, so why not buy the Challenger just to have one of each? And while I'm at it... maybe a restyled 2-door Charger too.

I loved the spy shots of the challenger. But I will garuntee those two cars will be quite a bit more expensive than whatever Ford will be selling Mustangs for. The Camaro and challenger will likely be priced 8-10k more than the Mustang GT for comparable models, if you use current srt charger and gto pricing as a comparison.

Also with ever tightening CAFE requirements and smog regulations, I wonder if big dispacment engines will even be available for main stream vehicles. Im betting DC and GM are going to have to start making smaller more efficient engines by 2009.

Can't make any reasonable decision comparing the three at this point, plus I doubt very much I'd be willing to part with my 05 GT by then.

I do REALLY like the challenger pic's I saw, but more than my Mustang...not so sure about that.

Hmm well I think it would be fairer to compare the mustang concept with the other 2 concepts because they will most definately not be exactly like that. Also, it would be nice have price be a factor because I don't see a 400 hp camaro and 425 hp challenger being the same price as the 300 hp mustang. However, since this is totally hypothetical I would still go with the stang due to it being an actual reality and looks better in my opinion

It's actually hard to chose for me now to tell you the truth. Although I am die hard when it comes to the Mustang, I actually also have a soft side for Mopar E-bodies. I think that they are one of the sexiest looking pony/muscle cars ever. As for the Camaro...I LOVE IT! 1st gen Camaros have always been my favorite Chevy's, but after '69 they lost all appeal to me (except for the last gen, which looks ok). I would love to have either one, but they are still concepts and 2009 seems like a long ways away so there is still possiblity they could deviate more or less from their concepts, like the 05 stang.

As for the Mustang...I actually voted for it because it has currently won me over and I intend to buy one next year. Hopefully by 09, Ford will offer better performance and better styling than the other two so that I could remain a hardcore blue oval fan. If not, well...then you know which dealers I'll be in.

If by 09 this is the Mustang. Then I'll bleed FORD BLUE all over again.
I will keep my Mach1's though. It would be nice to hit the Tri-fector.

The Challenger is interesting but I'm too devoted to the Mustang to switch. I hoping the Boss comes out in '09!! :worship:
