2007 Mustang GT vs. 2007 VW Passat 3.6

A buddy at work has a VW Passat 3.6 that he says will smoke my car. Others who have ridden in it it say it is real fast, like **** your pants fast. I think that these guys are .

I checked it's 0-60 and it is @ 6.6 secs. I think my GT would smoke that car but **** I would hate to get embarrassed by a VW with 4 doors. It is front wheel drive auto and rated at 280 hp and 265 torque. The curb weight is 3600.

What say you?

With a GT with a CAI and tune, no freakin' problem. You should be around 5.0-5.2 in 0 to 60. Thats over 120' difference at 60 mph, drivers equal.

They feel quicker from the inside.
I've seen reports that the 2WD version can do 0-60 in under 6 sec.
As long as you have traction, it is still no contest.

You wouldn't have any problem with that car, like Karman said above...they just feel fast from inside. Your GT will easily win as long as you don't destroy the tires on the line.

I really doubt it's faster than a Mustang GT. Even if it was, I'd rather be driving a slow Mustang over a fast Passat any day! JMHO.

Wow, why is this even a question?

Jk.. I also have a deluded coworker: He drives an automatic 07 Acura TL (258hp, 233 ft-lbs, 3620lbs) and is convinced his car can keep up with mine. He read about the TL Type-S (manual, 286hp, 256 ft-lbs, 3560lbs) doing 0-60 in 5.x seconds, and interprets that to mean that his car does "0-60 in 5 seconds." From my research I'm pretty sure he'll do high 6's or low 7's.

I don't think he'll ever race me though.

Should be no problem - unless you sleep at the light or somehow manage to stall, it's a cakewalk. If those people think the Passat is **** your pants fast, then the Mustang would be s**t your pants faster. XD
