There's no doubt that for it's time the 69 Camaro really stood up to the Mustang - but the numbers will show it is not in the same league.

Now if we start with a only a pure sheet metal 'body-in-white' and get to add on the suspension, drivetrain, and interior of our choice - thats worth deep thoughts...
Although even then, the 2005 Mustang has much more strength/lb - the aluminum hood, the nice lines.

I may like the look of many Camaros, but given the option of a similar Mustang, I'd get the Mustang no questions asked.

You didn't specify what model '69 Camaro (RS, Z/28, SS396, Yenko L-72/L-88, ZL-1, etc.)?

My first new car was a 1970 SS350 Camaro. It was SO much better looking than the 69, and believe me the 2005 Mustang is SO much better than either of those cars in every department. I didn't bother to vote. It's a foregone conclusion which will win.

Sorry, but i'd take a camaro ss396 over a 05 mustang anyday. But you guys are right, he didnt specify so its a very subjective poll.

It's funny how I overlooked the title.
I thought it was mustangs, in general vs
a 69 camaro in particular
hence check out what I wrote

I wonder if others overlookd it or if it was just me. I would definately choose the 69 Camaro, I remember seeing a nice 69 (unbadged not sure which model) which was pure beauty.

Didn't vote, because it depends. I would absolutely LOVE to have a 69 Camaro, but would not be able to afford the upkeep and after having an accident in 2003 I'd not feel real safe in it. The Mustang has the same emotional tug on my soul but is safe and dependable as is, no restoration and I can afford it.

This is not an easy choice,

for a daily driver, i'd much rather get an '05 stang with a/c, abs, power everything, etc. etc.

If I lived in an area in a nice climate where I could drive the Camaro year-round, I'd love that as well.

Is the 69 'maro in mint condition? If it was, I'd pick that...

So I could sell it, but an '05 stang and some mods with the profit.

Well this thread is right up my alley! I've got a '69 Camaro vert & soon will have a '06 Mustang vert so this is really tough, guess I'm undecided... can I pick both?
:bang:

I never thought I'd buy any new car because I really like late '60's cars but this new Mustang is the greatest... the styling, the interior, it's got it all, so I think after I've got some miles in the new Mustang, I'll pick Mustang-

One time at band camp...
I found a 1969 Camaro RS/SS 396 for sale the morning it posted in the auto trader, but was sold before 11:00 and all hope was lost...
if it was a 2006 mustang it would of had my vote
