2003 Cobra Vs. 1997 Viper GTS
#1
I work at a Dealership in Phoenix Az and I just took in trade a 1997 Viper GTS. I have a 2003 Cobra with the lightning Pully, Bassani exhaust, True Flow Intake, and Super chip tuner. I went out to my customers house to pick up his Viper and drove it approximatly 45 miles highway and city. :drive: All I have to say is Im not impressed! Yea it a low slung super car but for the money, holy smokes our Cobra is Awsome! The Viper is fun to drive because it is a V-10 and that is an experience in and of its self! 490 ft-lbs of torque is pretty im pressive! But it is more of an image than anything else! Anyone else experienced this?

Just getting in the Viper says alot! You have to get in over the 12 inch wide rocker pannels that have a BIG lable on them that reads "Caution HOT exhaust gasses". You definatly dont want to make the same mistake I did when I got out, I tried to use the rocker pannel as a ledge to push myself out after driving it! :bang: Not the wisest decission ive ever made! Ill put the picks on tomorrow!

I valet in Phoenix, and have luckily been granted the opportunity to drive everything from Escorts to Mclaren F1's. In my opinion the quality of the Cobra exceeds that of the Viper. Whenever I drive a Viper with more than 35,000 miles or so it seems to have quite a few squeaks and rattles. Definitely a nice ride though. Unfortunately I do have to admit that they do turn heads quite a bit more than the Cobras, although many of our other customers are not car enthusiasts. I cant count the number of times some turd will point at a 360 Spider and say "nice Lamborghini". Overall my experience has shown me that the SE mustangs (Bullitt, Mach, and Cobra) are some of the best buys our there for quality and performance.

I rode shotgun in a friends Viper several times before he traded up to a 911 Turbo and the heat that came from the floor of this thing was almost unbearable! With the top down and shorts on, my legs were sweating like crazy. This was one of his biggest complaints about the car.

The guy has more money than he knows what to do with! He has two Porshes two Hummers (H1 and H2) and now he just bought a 2005 F350 Crew Cab Diesel for $50k. To much money! We absolutly stole it from him. He could have easly gotten $10k more for it. But I Whatever floats your boat.
