'11 Mustang GT vs '11 BMW 335i

Ooh, neat one Jason. I love a nice 3-Series coupe, and the 335i is really appealing because it has good power, great torque, and represents a phenomenal overall package with excellent refinement and handling. That said, the Mustang GT will make quite a bit more power overall, appears certain to be a great handler in it's own right, is surprisingly refined in the 2010 model, and is 10k cheaper. When the Recaros show up as an option this could get really interesting. Absolutely warrants a drive of both.

I think BMW has paid off the car magazines. You could put BMW on a rock and Motor Trend would say "we have another winner from BMW" LOL!!!
While in Germany with the Army in 73 to 75, we were told to stay away from buying BMW's because of reliability issues. I've heard they still have a lot of electrical problems with the newer ones.

Tough call........ tweak the turbos in the 335 and it will fly. Or leave it mostly stock and have full maintenance covered for the first 50k miles including oil changes, etc. so throw out the "repair bills" argument........ the 335 is a great car, and you can get a X series which makes it a great daily driver even in cold climates.

I like BMW's, but I like Mustangs better (with some qualifiers). If I had to choose between a 2-door BMW 3-series and a Mustang, I'd choose Mustang hands down. For my uses though, with a wife and two kids, I'd choose a 4-door BMW 3-series sedan, I just can't see owning a 2-door BMW for what I need a car of that type for. Now if there was a 4-door RWD sedan based on the Mustang platform, I'd seriously consider that over the BMW sedan for a fun family car.

As a sedan the BMW is a nice choice but is bland, dull, and boring. Besides, BMW just about carbon copied the GTO's design. IMO the C class is a better car.
Next to the Mustang the Corvette is next in line.
