'11-13 5.0 vs. '08-09 Bullitt? Which would you rather have?

I have my 01 Bullitt and as fun as it was before the 08 came out, it is merely nothing more than a GT with no wing and a whooping 5 extra HP. I have driven both our 2013's and well I would trade my Bullitt in a heart beat and not think twice about it. I feel they (the Bullitt's) were robbed of something great. They should of received the same love the Mach 1's got IMO.

I'll give you the seats and the torque curve but, the exhaust note was egh the clean styling was removing a wing and putting a side skirt on that is now impossible to replace if something bad happens and the suspension was a .75 inch drop with some shocks and struts, oh and bolt on subframes. I'm just saying they could of given it a little kick up front like the Mach 1's got. I mean the 68 that Steve drove had a 390 4V in it and if I recall those put out like 300+ hp. You know what drove me nuts about the Bullitt more than anything, the hood. They should of, both times 01/08 used the hood that is on the 03/04 cobra as that is the correct hood for representing the car driven by LT. Frank Bullitt.

Plus an instrument cluster with "heritage design" font...
Beauty is in the "ear" of the beholder, of course, but the tone was definitely distinctive as compared to a stock GT.
The side piece where the side scoops were is also a Bullitt-specific piece. And yes, it is unfortunate about the side skirts being out of production, however, that is not unlike some other parts for low-volume cars.
Uh, they did do some tuning on that :-)
The biggest distinction was the engine, of course. And yes, the Mach 1 was a beaut in that department. However, there were quite similar approaches in terms of mechanical and style changes made for both vehicles - the front braking systems, different shocks/struts than the GT, heritage design seat covers, mufflers, colors distinct to the models (dark highland green, azure blue).
Yes, would have been lovely to have some extra zip!
Yes, that would have been cool. The '00 Bullitt concept car had a similar scoop that was employed on the '01, so stylistically, it does match.
The fact that this car made it to market in 13 months after it was shown as a concept is what likely influenced what could be done, especially given the low number of units.
That all said, if I had to pick between an '11-'13 GT and an '08-'09 Bullitt, it would be a tough call for me because of what the Bullitt represents emotionally. Can't argue with the engine hardware in the '11+ GTs though!

Bullitt vs 5.0 GT
Although a couple of kids accused my Bullitt as nothing but a dumb V6, most people recognized the car as something special. The sound and smooth clean paint just lloks cool. When I traded mine in, it was sold in a week.
I still love the Bullitt, but I love the new car too.

Now don't get me wrong I like my Bullitt I just think they showed when you rush a project like this you leave things out that could of really put the Bullitt where it should of been.
Now take the 2013 and make a Bullitt out of it and I'm on it. Sorry they didn't have dark Bullitt rims, but to be honest they would be the first thing to go as I am not a fan of them.

I'd say 5.0 for sure. I love the bullitts because they are clean and understated, as well as limited production. However, it doesn't have heritage, its just a tribute car to a movie....It was a great package from the factory, but aside from the exclusive paint most things could be done better with aftermarket parts. For me, 25K for an 08 is a lot, and the performance difference is fairly significant.

I think you're seeing why they won't do a Bullitt anymore IMO. Too many just don't get it. Too young maybe. Ford filled the baby boomer niche that understood the whole SMQ/BLLT/exclusive & unique/cool as hell aspect of this movie tribute Mustang.
The 08/09 Bullitt was the best performing of the initial phase of the retro S197 & 4.6/3V from the factory, and now so many discredit or are clueless as to that. Now ya'll want your computer in dash, heated seats, and twink led headlights and audi-ish crap.

I LOVE the Bullitt over every other mustang available
