No contest whatsoever. That car was made to compete with the import crowd, no competition with the V8 Mustang.

You've gotta be kidding. Ion Redline? I thought the tag was for the Saturn Sky Redline. Anyway, that Stage 2 kit better add some serious horsepower increases in order to beat a Mustang GT, otherwise, don't see it happening.

Fairly sure that Saturn is the Chevy Cobalt SS with a halter top. Uncle Bens converted rice doesn't work against Mustang GT just like real rice doesn't.

I went to the Saturn web site and while the Ion Red Line has been discontinued, I didn't see any information on a Stage 2 kit for the 2006 model. The Stage 2 was available on the standard Ion, and it increased horsepower to 174.

You know, there are '76 Toyota Tercels out there that people have stuffed modded engines into, that pull easy 11's at the track that will mop up most of our beloved GT's And, we're talking about a $150 shell of a car.
My point is, there will ALWAYS be faster cars out there.
(Unless you're John Shepherd in his 7-second Eagle Talon...but even he'll get beat eventually)

The biggest thing to remember is this: Dude...You drive a f%&#ing new Mustang GT, and that guy has a Saturn. Even on the SLIM chance that that guy could outrun you.....you could just meet him at the other end of the track......with his girlfriend in your passenger seat

GM offers a stage 2 ugprade for both the Cobalt SS and Ion RedLine. It will put it to around 241hp/218lbft. It basically include an ECU tune, bigger injectors, smaller pulley. That is the GM upgrades, there are 3rd party vendors that offer upgrades to take them close to 300hp.

From a dig you'll probably take him, from a roll may be a different story.

There are no '76 Tercels. 1st year was 1978 and was called the "Corolla Tercel".
No matter, I think the contest in question ain't gonna happen.

heyy so i happen to come by this an the gm kit for our lsj engine get to b around 246 hp and 239 tq.. tho i dont have it.. i have the cold air intake from k&n and constently i meet up with the new v6 stangs an the new gt stangs and the v6 is no competiton at all i take by a good 5-6 lenghts.. as for the gt.... from 0-35 u pull but as soon as i hit 2nd i pull hard.. an by 3rd i am about half a car an the end of 3rd i am about a car.. an the end of 3rd is a quarter mile in my car... from rolls pretty much the same thing but i catch up alot quicker.... so dont put down the 'american rice' cars cuz there alot faster then u actually think.... an u can belive it or not but i run with them on the track all the time an they stand little or no contest but there is a few time were i have falen by a few hundreths of a second due to the ridiculous amount of wheel hop i get.. but the soild mounts an traction bars will solve that in about a week and after the snow comes an goes in ny i will have the 60# injectors, 2.6'' pulley, port an polished supercharger, zex kit direct port injection (purge onto the supercahrger to freeze at the line) comp cams, custom valvetrain, pistions, possible water/meth/alk injecton system.. plus the lighter body parts i.e the hood and trunk.. an use some drag radials to keep the 350 plus hp from spinning off the line
