Ok,
I had to comment on my experience last night because it was so overwhelming that I can't keep it in.

My brother came over with his best friend who is just shy of a millionaire.
His friend had a brand new 2005 corvette.

This is only my opinion so flame away if you must.
I was more than disappointed with this car.

A direct comparison to my GT is comprised of the following.

Styling is ok at best. The GT is Phenominal at worse.

Fit and finish are boring, unconfortable to sit in. The GT is attractive, stylish and mostly confortable.

Engine bay is ugly, no real opportunities for dress up. Mods are limited due to space limitations. The GT under the hood is average, but has great potential for mods and dress up as evident in these forums.

Clutch action is horrid. It clanks and does not have smooth and even flow through the stroke. The clutch on the GT is a work of art.

The exhaust note has got to be the worse thing I have ever heard out of a 400HP engine. It is lame and sounds like a '76 pacer. The GT, nuf said.

I declined the offer to drive it. Only because I did not want the sponsibilty.

I know that the vette would walk all over the GT, but based on the entire package, this car would only be around long enough for me to sell it.

Call me nuts, call me crazy, call me simple minded, but you'll never convince me that the vette has more to offer than the mustang.

So what do you do if someone gave you a vette?

Voted "other" - I would sell the vette and keep the money.

I think the Vette is a great car... I wouldn't spend 50k on it though. I bought the Mustang because it appealed to me more.

Now if someone gave me a Bentley Continental GT...

It's a different persona... My experience w/ the C6 is quite a bit different... It took my Saturn takin' a dump on me while on the way to make a deposit on a C6 for me to swear off GM... Lookin' back, my driveway is the main thing stopping me from further consideration... Sure I'm very happy w/ my Stang (especially the $$$ saved for mods & other toys), but the C6 has so many things going for it that Ford will never offer in a Mustang.

I have. Had you given it a shot your topic and opinions would be a lot different. The Vette is no GTO and has nothing to envy the Mustang GT about. Would I buy one? Absolutely not, but I wouldn't trash it either.

I won't trash the Vettes - my buddy has had two of them I know the legacy and the performance.

But personally???

I don't dig them. I drove his 97 - hated it. Don't like the way you sit, the feel of driving the car...... his 2002 has some neat options and I like the styling better.... but again, its not for me.

About 90% of folks I know who drive them have the same kind of personality "Yeah I drive a VETTE - look at meee!"

Although I really like the C5 and C6, I'd opt for the Mustang. It's a lot less expensive, has a back seat and a bigger trunk. I'm sure that insurance is less for a Mustang as well. But the styling is great and build quality has improved. As a daily driver it's more versatile than the Corvette, so it gets my vote.

You're nuts, crazy, and simple minded.

One more thing...
Clutch action is horrid.
...
I declined the offer to drive it.
If you declined the offer to drive it, how can comment on the clutch action?

Sorry, but your post sounds like nothing more than a Mustang fanboy post, not a realistic comparison of the vehicles.

In the ideal situation I'd take the Vette and keep the Mustang. Seeing as money doesn't grow on trees, I would never consider buying it, but I do respect the Vettes. I rather own a Shelby Cobra GT500
That I would work my hiney off for.

I would take the C6 Hands down over the Mustang if I had the moneys to spend on the Vette and on another car to drive me around during the weekdays, preferably a Mustang

By depressing it.

I am very biased to the Mustang.
I didn't have to drive it to come to the conclusions that I have. I stated that I know the vette will spank the pony in every category in driveability, performance, speed, agility and the rest of it. But just as they sit side by side I personally will take the Mustang 10 times over based on what I have observed.
The pony more than satisfies every performance desire that I have. And it is a realistic comparison because it is my opinion, nothing else. I'm just asking for yours.

I would pick the mustang, i am over 6 foot tall and the vette is to small inside for me. plus the mustang is better looking by far. Performance doesnt make a difference in this choice because the 05 has alot of potential. The vette is a ok vehicle, but the C5 is far better than the new ugly c6 IMO

The dollar to perf ratio on a vette cant be beat, now where on this planet will you get a better performance deal than the vette (epsecially the Z06 coming in a 505hp)

that said...

The car really is made for the bow tie brigade. Most of whom think of the mustang as retro cliche' overweight and to wide in the hips. Then again they also think that a born again camaro would cut mustang sales in half (lmao), but I digress.

Hands down I would take the 06 c6 vette. It will out perform a mustang gt all day long. I am not even a vette fan by any means but these 06 c6 vettes are just plain nasty in the power department and refined enough in handling that they would wipe out a gt mustang on any type or race track you put them on.
