I would keep the 02, do a few mods to it but keep the cost down so you can have as much saved for the cobra. Then when youre ready, sell the 02 and grab the monster cobra! The 03-04 terminator is my bucketlist car with the sn95 mach 1 being right there behind it. Dream car would have to be a 69' Boss 302

I had a 2004 Screaming Yellow Mach1, Auto,
It was very fast, a set of 3.73s, a stall converter, electric water pump, and drag radials, without any exhaust or Cai or tune I was running 12.98 to 13.1 consistantly.
The 05 is a much better playform, but common as hell, but better for modding.
Its your choice but Id still take a 04 Mach1 over a 05 GT..
Listen to my Mach1 vs a 07 GT, Mach1 sounds alot better.

Just out of curriosity, why not get a new edge GT? Easier to find a auto, cheaper, and for close to the same money as the mach, you could have a faster car then it.
Personally I would love a Mach, but it will probably be hard to find in an auto, and you can mod the new edge to your hearts content without having that special edition branding hanging over your head.
Just curious

Thanks for all the input, guys. Mach 1 it is.
I went online to find Mach 1s and I also went to americanmuscle to see how much each car would cost.
The average price for both is $15k. But to get the GT the way I would want it, I need $13,822.59 worth of mods and the Mach 1 only asks for $9,743.67.
Now I'm just deciding if I should get a torch red or competition orange.

To those telling me to get a Cobra... again, thanks for you input, but it has to be an SN 95 Mach or 197 GT. I WILL have a Cobra eventually, but right now I can't drive stick nor afford it and my brother will be using this car soon so I need something else for a few years.

I can't drive stick yet. I have no way of learning. I'm only going to have the Mach for like 5 years, modding it constantly while I have it, before moving on to the terminator. I will have one, **** it. I cannot keep an automatic Mach 1 forever knowing I could have this:

Though I posted my Mach1, Remember the 05 3v can handle more boost and HP then a Mach1. 450hp with a safe good tune on a Mach1,anymore and might have issues, the 05 GT engine can handle a little more.

There was a point where I couldn't drive stick. So my parents got me (my first) a 2003 SVT Focus. 1 Day later, I drove stick. My best friend wanted an auto, I taught him how to drive stick, he now drives stick. My (now) fiance, can even drive stick...
Saying you can't drive stick is like saying you don't know where everything goes in the kitchen.
You just have to look around, watch a couple youtubes, and learn it! If the problem is no-one in your family drives stick, ask all your friends! One of them for sure drives stick! It takes like an hour to learn, and a week to get good at. Less if you actually like cars, more if you don't care.
Whichever car you pick (both will be fun), you'll enjoy them a lot more as a young driver when you can dump clutch, rev without shifting into neutral, drop shift and listen to the burble.
7 years later.. I'm glad that's what i learned. I still drive a manual.

Auto vs auto the 05+ will be faster. Better auto trans, better gearing. And the auto Mach 1's don't rev as high nor make as much power as their manual counter parts.

Yeah, just seems odd to me. Personally I'd be learning how to drive a manual, literally takes hours as stated above. All the mods in the world are not going to give you that "connected" feeling a manual tranny will.
