Need some help here:

Just got a mailer from my local Ford dealership saying that they are offering an "unprecedented Cash Reward/Vehicle Buyback Event".

It goes on to state that:

The dealership guarantees a full buy back of my car at 10% or $2,000 over N.A.D.A book value on trade in,

AND (drum roll please)

a "Thank You" Bonus: up to a $10,000 Bonus Cash Reward OVER AND ABOVE your best negotiated deal on the purchase or lease of any new Ford or used vehicle.

The fine print at the bottom says:

Cash Reward comes in form of mail-in, time deferred Cahsable Reward. Maturity in 36 months. Must follow rules and procedures exactly to claim reward.

NOW FOR THE QUESTION: Who can explain this to me? What exactly does it mean? What are the conditions, which aren't listed here? I was not looking to buy an '05 Mustang yet, but could change my mind if the deal were right.

Thanks!

Your best bet, call your local attorney generals office. Fax them a copy of the letter and ask them what they think. We have outside marketing companies trying to sell us all kinds of scam promotions all the time.

Thanks for the tip- however, the mailer is directing me to go to the dealership where I bought my '01...looks to me that the dealership is most definitely involved in the promo. I'm just trying to figure out where the catch is with this one, and don't have enough info. The "maturity in 36 months" and "must follow rules and procedures exactly" have got me wondering, especially since they didn't include the "rules and procedures"...any additional thoughts?

This is a Marketing firms business, they are hired by the Dealership to accomplish one thing. "GET YOU IN THE DOOR". If you have an interest in a new or used vehicle and enjoyed your last experience with this dealer then by all means go back to them. I recommend you find out if your last sales consultant is still there and go directly to him or her. The mailer is secondary to you being completely satisfied with your purchase. Treat the offer as a tool that was succesful in getting you to visit the store!
