I can tell you from personal experience that Ford cloth Recaro's are certainly NOT a waste, and more than adequate for medium to heavy track use. Leather ones I'd agree with, but cloth seats hold you like velcro.
With a proper 5 point harness you don't need anything else unless you tear out everything from your car and add roll cage.

You're welcome, John. No harness, just the stock 3-point seat belt. I only run 3-4 track days per year, nothing hard-core. Just a good street car having fun.

the bad news: it's snowing here in Massachusetts today, just when I thought Punxatawney (sp?) Phil was going to be right
the good news: SCCA Track Night in America has released their sites for 2016, see attached. The dates are yet to be released. If you are interested in attending one of these, PM me for discount code. Net after discount is $125 for one hour of track time (three 20-minute sessions), can't beat that!

Nice, the closest event to me is ~3h away, but I'll see if the dates work out. I've been looking at the track day plan for 2016 and things aren't lining up too well with my open weekends.

My 2016 schedule is shaping up. I was able to move some other events around, and now I'm planning 4 events.
Just signed up for Mid Ohio on June 6th. I will try for Waterford Hills in early May, and in middle of July it will be Grattan raceway. Then to close out the season Gingerman Raceway in early October.
So 4 road courses and a day at each. I'm really looking forward to Mid-Ohio. It's been 10 years since I've been there for the Acura high performance driving school.

All those east-coast and mid-west tracks look great. Too bad there's no TMS folks in my neck of the woods interested in joining me at track events near Las Vegas. My 2016 is looking pretty good for track duty: April 24 (Speed Ventures), Sept 11 (PCA), & Nov 13 (PCA). All at Spring Mountain. Let's keep enjoying our Ponies on the roadcourse!
