Rehagen to Race a Dozen Mustangs This Weekend

HAS REHAGEN RACING GONE MAD?

LIVONIA, Mich. (Jun 10, 2008) - Rehagen Racing is headed to Mosport international Raceway just north of Toronto, Ontario, Canada and is bringing 12 cars total for two different series for the Fathers Day weekend races. Six cars in the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge series and six cars in the KONI Challenge GS class.

Has Rehagen gone mad? Team manager Dean Martin says, "we will have over 60 people including drivers and crew and we're going to Mosport with the full intent to put at least two cars on each podium in the Mustang Challenge and KONI Challenge races."

In the Mustang Challenge, Rehagen has 3 drivers top five in points with Jamie Slone arriving fresh off his first professional podium of second place in the Mustang Challenge series at Road Atlanta and leads the team with 52 points. Mike McGovern (41 points) and Mike Harvison (39 points) followed closely in Road Atlanta with 4th and 5th place finishes. George Winkler finished a strong 12th in his first ever professional road race (George is an ex-drag racer), and Jim Click had contact with the wall during the race, but still came back to finish 20th. The Mustang Challenge race is in conjunction with the Grand Am KONI Challenge GS/ST classes and the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Dickies 200.

In the KONI Challenge, Hugh Plumb is due for a win with Mike Canney, but Jack Roush Jr. and Dean Martin are going to do everything they can to keep them on the second tier of the podium. Mike McGovern will perform the finishing duties on the No. 150 with Jim Click and can easily win this race as well. AND, Adam Pecorari will be teaming with Ray Mason for the Mosport event! That's four Koni cars out of the Rehagen camp that can win this Koni Challenge race.

The Miller Cup series heads back to the United States for Round 3 at the historic Mid Ohio Sports Car Course and is paired up with the Emco Gears Classic Grand Am Daytona Prototypes as well as the KONI Challenge ST cars. Jamie Slone will pull double duty and run with Charles Espenlaub in the KONI ST race driving a Mazda RX-8 for Roar Racing. Slone recently ran at Lime Rock Park in an ST car with Chip Herr, but his car caught fire soon after turning it over to Chip in 5th place. He was well poised for a podium and dare I say a win...

Rehagen Racing is lead by Larry Rehagen, a Ford Engineering Technical Specialist, and former Ford SVT chassis engineer Dean Martin. Rehagen provides full racing services of racecar preparation, technical and engineering support, maintenance, transportation, full arrive and drive support and driver coaching for professional and amateur racing series.

Anyone know if these races are televised? I'm looking at both websites, and I've searched my DVR, and I can't find them. I would really love to watch these!

Just FYI guys, Jack Roush Jr. qualified the #59 in P2 for the Koni race on saturday!!! Way to go Jack!

For those that don't know, Jack Jr. is still pretty new to road racing, despite his family history. He is just starting his second season in road racing, and just continues to amaze us by getting faster and faster at every race weekend.

Sorry for not updating guys . . . but we had a bit of a bittersweet weekend, lol. The #60 car driven by Hugh Plumb and Mike canney finished 2nd!! And the #59 car with Jack Roush Jr. and Dean Martin was in 3rd with only a few laps to go when Billy Johnson in the #18 BMW Z4 M Coupe decided to hit Dean right on the rear wheel, spinning him out and bending the rear axle in the process. Dean was obviously not very happy about this incident . . . and it resulted in the #59 car finishing in 30th instead of 3rd.
The #52 Mustang, driven by Ray Mason and Adam Pecorari finished 10th, with Ray having led a few race laps about halfway through. Adam was making up ground after the driver change, but a number of yellows toward the end of the race kept him from gaining a few more positions.
