Predict my 1/4 mile performance...
I'll be taking my '07 Mustang GT automatic coupe to the drag strip this Friday (9/19) for its first 1/4 mile run with the supercharger. Anybody interested in a little fun to see who comes the closest to predicting what it'll run?
It dyno'd 351 rwhp on a Mustang Chassis Dyno a couple months ago. Car weighs 3,700 lbs with me in it at the race track. Other than the Vortech V2 supercharger, the only other mods are 4.10 gears, 4,500 rpm stall converter, and 275/40/17 BFG drag radials. I'll be leaving it in "drive" with the shift points set at 6,400 rpm's.
I've been drag racing for 26 years. I typically post reaction times under .100. Car was consistently posting 60' times between 1.80 and 1.89 last season without the supercharger. So, I consider my driving ability to be better than average.
The track I'll be at this Friday is barely above sea level (100'-200'). Weather is supposed to be partly cloudy and around 70 degrees, so it'll be fairly ideal conditions - especially in the evening when it starts to cool down a bit.
I'll scan and post timeslips this weekend sometime.
Here's my prediction:

Here's my prediction:
- 60' = 1.75 seconds
- 330' = 5.00 seconds
- 1/8 mile = 7.90 @ 87 mph
- 1/4 mile = 12.30 @ 111 mph

I'll throw in our shop foreman's guess, too. He's also our SVT technician who campaigned a 10 second Fox-body Mustang for quite a few years at our local track. He also had an '03 Cobra that ran 12 flat. He thinks my car will run a 12.35 @ 115 mph. I really don't think the car will go 115 in the 1/4 mile, but he really believes it.

Also, he knows that my dyno tune included a lot of transmission work, including phasing-in the stall-converter lock-up in 3rd & 4th gears very quickly after gear changes to charge hard at the end of the track. A lot of automatic cars run very "loose" converters, so flashing mine to 4,500 rpm's then locking it up about 5,000 rpm's should really help the trap speeds, I'm told.
We'll find out in 25 hours. The weatherman is now saying mid 60's and overcast for tomorrow's racing, so it should be great, cool weather to run quick in!

I think 113 mph would even be good for an 11.9XX if it dead hooks a 1.60 or 1.70 sixty foot time.
I'm going to try staging at idle, and only hammering the throttle just before that last amber comes on to make the maximum possible "stall torque ratio" with the stall converter (2.1 per Fuddle Racing, which will make the car launch like it has almost 800 lb ft torque). This converter is flashing to about 4,500 rpm's, and I'm getting just about 6psi boost at that point, so coupled with the 4.10's it should launch pretty dang hard.

Tom, you're the winner! Good guess.
My first run (and my best of 11 runs tonight) was 12.57 @ 110.18 mph. I'm nowhere near a scanner right now, but here's how the timeslip reads...
R/T = .062
60' = 1.866
330' = 5.273
1/8 mile = 8.082 @ 86.97 mph
1000' = 10.525
1/4 mile = 12.577 @ 110.18 mph
This was at Bremerton Raceway in Washington (just west of Tacoma, WA). My first time ever at that track, and first time ever racing with the supercharger. I got plenty of traction every run, but could not get a 60' better than a pair of 1.85's all night. Had a run in the 12.60's and lots of runs in the 12.70's - most were over 109 mph.

Those gen-2 Lightnings (99-04) are very fast and they launch hard! I've driven a few, and even got to spend a day autocrossing one at the Bob Bondurant Racing School a few years back. I am very impressed how well they handle! While the instructors posted 0:58 to 0:59 laps in their race prepped SVT Cobras on race tires that they race daily, I ran 1:01 laps in a bone stock 03 SVT Lightning on factory street tires, and I'd never driven that truck before that event.

Here's a few videos from last night's drag racing...
I have a video camera mount on my passeger headrest. Here's a few of last night's runs. You can see each of these cars fade back in my rearview mirror as I charge past each of them for the win...
Me versus a Dodge SRT4.
Me versus an 06 Roush Mustang (manual, 4.10's, drag radials, and Roushcharger w/smaller pulley).
Me versus a trailered in, pro-category Olds Cutlass.
Me versus a 66 Mustang coupe.
Next time I'll have to take someone with me to video from outside the car!!!
