Planned track days 2014!

Starting this thread for those interested in getting some track time in 2014 to post which events we are registered for or planning to attend. If anyone is interested in attending any of the ones I plan to get to, let me know as some clubs offer discounted first time rates, recruitment credits, and other perks for referrals.

Here's my list for 2014:
Club Event Date
NASA NJMP Thunder Apr 4-6
NEQ LRP May 16-17
NASA LRP July 3
NASA NJMP Lightning July 19
LNM Thompson July 24
NEQ WG Aug 18-19
NEQ Thompson Sept 8-9
LNM Thompson 25-Sep

NEQ is Northeast Quattro club (Audi club branch)
LNM is Loose Nut Motorsports - brand new club in 2014

Hope to see some of you guys join these and other events in 2014

Wow, you have LOTS to choose from. Nice. I'm aiming for 2-3 this year myself. Little behind the curve, but I'd like to hit one of the following:
1) Mid-Ohio
2) Grattan Raceway in Michigan
3) Back to Gingerman in Michigan for another go

But first things first. I still have 80% of my track brake pads from last season, now I just need wider track wheels/tires, and better brake fluid . That should keep me set for another year or 2.

I can't wait to try my new wheels at the track... couple more months of waiting...

Definitely switch brake fluid. The Motul RBF600 has treated me well over the years and it's reasonable. You need about 3 containers to flush the system. Probably worth getting a 4th container to flush "more" as I think I ended up with some OEM fluid mixed with the Motul at first, hence why I boiled it.

When is your first outing?

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll look into it. I was actually thinking about Brembo EVO 500 fluid (to match the Brembo brakes), but I'll compare specs.

I haven't registered for any event yet. But I'm guessing late May or June.

Ok, with the winter car testing season (work) FINALLY coming to a close, I can put together a tentative plan for Track Days for the year. It is a bit skimpy, but here it goes:
July 19-20: Grattan Raceway with 3BallRacing
September 6-7: Mid Ohio Sports Car Course with Porsche Car Club

This summer will be very busy with other commitments, but I am hopeful I can also go back to Gingerman for a weekend there in August as well. If I can only hit one event this year I won't be surprised (I want to hit Grattan really bad). If I can hit Grattan and Mid-Ohio I'd be happy. If I can do all 3 I would be ecstatic.

Nice East-Coast events! I'd love to run on some of those tracks. I'm here in the West, here's my (tentative) 2014 schedule:
April 6, Spring Mountain (Porsche Club)
April 18, LVMS (Mustang 50th Celebration)
September 14, Spring Mountain (Porsche Club)
November 16, Spring Mountain (Porsche Club)

5.monster - sounds good too bad you can't get out until July but at least there are a couple events you'll get to! I'm psyched my first outing is coming in 4 weeks. Almost forget how to drive the car fast after letting it sit most if the winter. I'm only definitely going to NJMP first weekend in April, then Limerock on May 9 and Watkins Glen for 2 days in August. But I expect 3 or 4 days at Thompson which is new this year and maybe one or two more days at limerock. Should be my most successful season yet! Can't wait to tow the mustang down to Jersey too...

Those ones in NJMP sound tempting! Maybe I should get some tires and brake pads instead of a tune.

Are any of those events noob friendly? I've only done drag racing in my last car, and quite a bit of Forza motorsport over the years =P

Registered for the "Car Control Course on the Skid Pad & Auto-X" at Limerock on 07.29.

Shooting for Thompson on 06.25 & the Ford event on 09.25 at Limerock, but still need UCAs & a helmet, so we'll see if I can swing those.

You seem to have a GREAT season of racing in front of you! I'm jealous. Ha, but I hear you. Not sure if I remember how to Pilot the mustang any more. There is still 4-5 feet of snow on the ground up here in Michigan, and I don't think it will melt before May. I can't even take the car out of the garage, because it won't make it back up the driveway with all the ice. This winter has been ridiculous.

But some track time is better than none. Plus I'm hopeful I'll get an extra tack day here or there. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Enjoy your track day. And same to everyone else Pete, Wheelman, cjd82187, ElkGrove. I hope everyone has a fun and safe track season!

Thanks! Mid-West and North-East have had a terrible winter for weather (unless you love to ski !). Your in MI? Are you near Gingerman? That track looks amazing.

Fun tracks. Watkins is my favorite so far. Amazing track. Wish it was a bit closer as I would definitely get there more often.

Almost every event is noob friendly. I highly recommend getting out for a track day. I have honestly felt no need at all for any power nods on this car so far. Only braking and handling. Shoot me a PM if your interested in the Jersey or any other event

Yeah I havebeen complaining here in CT a bit about the cold this winter but we certainly don't have 4+ feet on the ground!!! I do ski as though so its been great for that. Get me need for speed out on the ski slopes. But I'm psyched to start driving again. Just have to make sure I keep all the wheels on the track!!

Id also love to get to gingerman sometime.e. looks like a fun track and isn't that where road and track or car and driver (or both) do most of their testkng? Woildnbe fun to get there to see how I do in comparison to some of the new cars they text out!!

Bring crappy tires if you have some for the car control event. Usually chews up tires a bit! I may also sign up for that one this year. Would be very helpful.

Which club is at Thompson on 6/25? SCDA? I don't think I'm driving with them thisbyear as there are a couple other groups with much better rates... if you need a helmet your welcome to borrow mine. I have a couple head socks too. I am going to get a new helmet soon but waiting for SA2015 ones. Hate to buy a SA2010 which will be no good in 6 years

Yeah, not sure if I have enough tread on my OEM tires to get through the event but am afraid of just destroying my daily tires. Still debating.
Yes, all three of my events would be with SCDA. Seems like a good club from afar.
Thanks for the offer! I was trying to find out how long the SA2010s will be good for, so that answers that. So the SA2015s will be available next year? Maybe I'll go cheap for now and free up $ for the other events.

Yep the helmet rating is good for 10 years so my 2005 expires in 2015 and so on. I'm sticking with it fornone more season then upgrade time. The 2015 rated ones should be available this fall or next winter

SCDA is a good club. I have driven with them for 4 years I think. Only one or two events with them per year but overall good experiences. Check out the northeast audit club event at Thompson in early Sept... 2 days for $450 or $475 I think. I fully intend to make that one this year. They have some of the best instruction around in my opinion and run very good 2 day events

Oh, 10 years, that's not so bad. Was thinking it was 5. I really want a cf bandit.
I will definitely look into that. Thanks for the info!
