Pete's 2011 Mustang GT chasing down a Corvette ZR1 at the track

Pete's 2011 Mustang GT chasing down a Corvette ZR1 at the track. This is my friend Tony's 2013 black ZR1 parked next to me. Spring Mountain Motorsports, Porsche Track Day 2/24/2013. That Corvette is very fast, I never quite catch him...

Great video.
Man, that ZR1 is FAST! Is it stock or has he got some "tweaks"?

That ZR1 is all stock. 638hp, 600+torque, 3300lbs, blistering on the straights.

Nice run in the mustang. In my mind there is no way a car that cost $30k should even be in view of a car that cost north of $100k. The newer corvettes are awesome cars but the mustang is still the best bang for the buck out there.

I agree. My car is usually the cheapest car at the track, and most guys are blown away at how well it runs on on the racetrack. I guess they have not been reading up on our car's recent prowess in speed and handling. Most M3s, Corvettes, and Porsches that I run with cost $70k+.

Oh yes. This S197 chassis is pretty darn good. And the drive train is excellent - power throughout the rev band. I've only modded suspension, wheels/tires, & brakes. And the car is great on the track. A lot of fun, and very capable. Also, I know some may laugh at this, but I think the driving position, the sight-lines, and the instrument cluster are very good, too.

I'm amazed at how fast that ZR1 pulls away on the straights... incredible

But good driving, and way to keep up in the Mustang. I can't wait to get mine out there and stretch her legs! (have to get the car first though )

The ZR1, with all that power and low weight, it's a rocket ship. Looks good and sounds good, too. My next track day is May 5, I'll post up some good videos. I used to live in CT. I don't miss the winter weather. Enjoy your new 2014!

Definitely post the videos, I can live vicariously through them until I can get out

I don't mind CT, but this past winter was rough!
