My first ever 1/4 mile run, results any good?
Hi there
Myself and friend went to the motorsport madness event today on Thorney Island which was organised by the MOD Army barracks here in the UK. There was a 1/4 mile section and drifting day, amongst beer, burgers and lots of red hot sun.
Anyway I ran my first ever 1/4 mile today, here is my 2nd and best run of the day:-
Everyone said as it was my first time to look for 13s area, out of 5 runs my 2nd was the best and I am please to bits to have got into the 12s area and the terminal speed is very impressive.
Slowing me down is traction in 1st gear, its hard to hook it up and go and near impossible to go full throttle or do a full throttle gear change from 1st-2nd but am happy with the result, especially as a 560BHP E60 M5 also was getting 12.9s-13.1s which hooked up well and had LC and SMG gears and an F355 was hitting 13s and the Ferrari was launching amazingly well.
My friend in his R35 GTR managed an 11.55s @ 125mph too which is **** quick and thats a stock car but all he has to do is floor the throttle and the car does the rest........
The track was un-preppared, it was just airfield so normal tarmec, hot day with a head wind, so not a particular sticky surface but not too bad.
My car runs street tyres (Toyo T1R's) with 34psi all round. Tokico Suspension and set it 5 turns out in front and 2 turns out in rear so front much softer.
I think if I can perfect my launch, change gear faster as I am stick shift and reduce car weight then sub 12.5s for sure would you guys agree? Anything quicker though will need drag tyres....

No it's not stock
2005 saleen supercharged with 480RWHP
autocross suspension setup, tokico dspecs, saleen springs, steed swaybars, steed upper and lower control arms, steed braces.
The car is more setup for corner carving and runs 18x19.5 wheels with Toyo T1R street tyres and it's a stick shift with 5 speed manual.
I was struggling to get power down in 1st but this was my first fm
time and I was not too harsh on the car

You've got 120 rwhp more than I do and I only trap in the 111-112 mph range, but I have good weight transfer and run consistent 12.30's in the 1/4 mile. Your car is definitely much more powerful than mine.
119 mph trap speed tells me you can run high 11's with the proper traction (drag radials) and weight transfer. With your autocross suspension, weight transfer might not happen, but I don't see why you couldn't run about 12 flat - even with your current suspension.
