They oughta make 25,000 of these instead of 25 and call it a "GT350-R".

well, the fact that they are not, and could never be, street legal makes it tough to make and sell more of them . . . the market is pretty small.
Plus, the manufacturing capacity of a vehicle like this is so small it is crazy. These cars are constructed by hand at the MultiMatic facility for Ford Racing, with significant time and labor going into things like seam welding the chassis, and installation of the roll cage. To give you an idea of how long it takes to put these cars together, the First customer car was delivered early this year, and car #6 was just delivered to its new owner earlier this week.
Because of this, there are a few Grand Am Cup teams that have elected to build thier own chassis, and purchase the rest of the hardware seperately from Ford Racing. While this may save a bit of cash up front for these teams, it is easily offset by the labor and cost involved in building the chassis.
Either way, the FR500C is a heck of a car; Ford Racing and MultiMatic have worked thier magic together to put together THE car to beat in production based sports car racing (Grand Am Cup).
