In coordination with Rehagen Racing, TheMustangSource.com is honored to give its forum members the opportunity to design a race car! The winner will receive weekend admission (including paddock access) to the 2006 Grand American Cup race of his or her choice.

Rehagen Racing is building at least one 2005/2006 Mustang for competition in the Grand American Cup Grand Sport Class for 2006 and is soliciting your suggestions for an aggressive, eye-catching paint scheme.

Please submit your designs to Rehagen@TheMustangSource.com no later than November 30, 2005. Be sure to include your first and last name, TheMustangSource.com forum user name, email address, street address, city, state, Zip code, phone number, and the 2006 Grand-Am Cup race you wish to attend. (Click here for the 2006 Grand-Am Cup schedule.)

Winner(s) will be chosen no later than December 15, 2006. Winner(s) will be chosen based on design, not artistic or technical skill.

Here are the rules:
  1. Begin with a 2005/2006 Mustang GT Coupe body without a spoiler.
  2. Do not alter any body panels.
  3. If you choose to use a different hood, only the Steeda Functional Race Hood for 2005+ Mustang is approved.
  4. If you choose to use a spoiler on your design, only the Steeda Competition Wing for 2005+ Mustang is approved.
  5. The car must bear competition numbers at least 12 inches high by two-inch stroke on the front door on each side of the car. Block type numbers minimum 8 inches by one-inch stroke must also be on the front vertical nose area and six inches by one-inch stroke on the taillight rear panel. All car numbers must be of a contrasting color to the car and cannot be chrome. Please use #59 in your renderings.
  6. Grand-Am Cup Series decals should be placed on both sides of the car adjacent to car number and front and rear of race car on vertical surface.
  7. A four-inch wide "GS" decal to denote the car's class must be placed on each front quarter.
  8. You may use a windshield banner not to exceed 6" in height.
  9. The car must use four functional hood pins.
  10. A driver's side window net is required.
  11. The Rehagen Racing, TheMustangSource.com, TREMEC Transmissions, F.A.S.T., and Sonoco logos must be used.
  12. Please refer to pictures of last year's Rehagen Racing / TheMustangSource.com #59 2005 Mustang GT Grand American Cup racer for other questions regarding graphics and decals.
  13. Design must not be too detailed--it must be able to be applied to the vehicle with vinyl or simple painting. Graphics can not be too detailed due to the expense of preparing crash parts.
  14. Rehagen Racing reserves all ownership rights to use the paint scheme.
Good luck!

By verticle nose area do you mean the corner of the hood like it is in the 2005 racer?
Also does the Korn logo go on this as well?
Oh and are we allowed multiple entries?

Doug, to clarify,
Vertical nose area means that the numbers on the car have to be readable when viewed from the front of the car. On the corner of the hood, like our current 05, as well as on the front bumper, etc. will work. Just make sure they are on the front of the car, and are viewable from the front.

Also, we are planning to have multiple 2005 cars, and KoRn won't be sponsoring all of them, so, we'd like to have a design that doesn't depend on any particular major sponsor so that we are free to use a given design on any of the cars, regardless of the major sponsor.

Also, don't forget, simple and bold is best. Ideally a design should be easily recreated when damaged parts have to be replaced (its racing, lets be real, fenders and stuff get banged up all the time) and don't forget, it has to look great on TV too

Brian, any concerns about using "heritage" styling from older road racing series?

...And I'm not interested either...

I don't see any problems with submissions using "heritage". As long as there are no issues w/ someone else using it already, or whatever . . .

Can't wait to see all the submissions!

I think it'd be funny to have a vinyl overlay for the back window that showed Arin with his hands pressed against the window and his 'fro pressed against the roof with a scared-to-death look on his face.
