I was thinking all the FR's were the 4.6. Only the CJ got the 5.4? Why only 425ish HP when the GT500 is over 500?

The 2010 Cobra Jet Mustang will feature the same engine configuration as the previous model but with a 25 horsepower bump. In addition to the 425hp 5.4L V8 that comes standard in the CJ, Ford will also offer an optional 475hp upgrade. Production will begin later this year with delivery to racers expected in early 2010.

Classification. It's built to run stock A and B class. Pretty sure those classes are under 500hp. Not positive. But it runs mid 8's with under 500 so it's impressive for sure.

Yeah, under 500hp...wink...wink, maybe with the bypass stuck wide open. Notice the supercharger isnt a Eaton M122 and the MAF is much larger. Exhaust is 1-7/8 ARH headers with an off-road X-pipe.The intercooler uses a Meziere 55 gph water pump to circulate the fluid along with a bigger coolant tank and radiator since the heat exchanger in the manifold is limited to the stock GT500 stuff.

It will be interesting to see how the NA Cobrajet does. Last I read they were testing two cam sets for the NA engine, one phaser friendly and another with the phasers locked out with aftermarket engine controller or something along those lines. Also take a look at that manifold, thats no 80mm T-body on the front - makes you wonder what other changes they have made with the CJ manifold?

The supercharged 5.0 should be pretty impressive as we have seen from some of the blown coyote and road-runner motors already.

I've always just assumed that they don't give us the real hp number, just the motor hp. My buddy had a 70 chevelle with about 1000 hp and it's an 8 sec car, my civic runs 522hp and I'm just in the tens(I know it's a way different class but still)

I don't see any prices on the 5.0 CobraJet yet, I would be real interested in that.
Sounds crazy, but I would sell my Boss for a CobraJet, I know there not street legal but I'm more into drag racing ..
Are they saying the 5.0 is gonna be 80s to 90s grand ?

It's not always hp. I have a friend with the world record stock D class trans am. 9.0's
N/A under 500hp. Just depends on vehicle set up. HP is just fun. Strict drag cars are all about set ups.

Still cant ignore physics. I've seen a 4th gen Camaro run 10's with 350 hp and no power adders, it was set up really good but part of that set up included making the car as light as possible.
