2011 Nationwide season
Yep! And right after that Nascar was turning the screws to get Ford out of the spotlight as usual! Nascar should stand for National Association of Stupid Clowns Against Roush ! In my book, they earned that moniker!

but Ford won a lot of races and was at the top in technology and power!!!! they're still limited and picked on today if you're in a ford you don't get away with ****!
I was really pulling for you Carl. I hope Carl doesn't become just like my first favorite driver, Mark Martin, always the bridesmaid. So close to so many championships, and just never could close the deal.
I don't think he will. He had a 4.9 average finish in the last 10 races or something like that, which is insane. Tony just wanted it more and was way more aggressive. He went out there and took wins. I think next year Carl is going to step it up.
That said... what an amazing drive for Tony Stewart. Epic.

I hope we won't have to wait for another 3 years until we see Edwards making a run for a championship again.
I think that was more Roush than it was Carl. I think he'll be a contender again next season.
Awesome!!!

I still dont know how Stewart did it, I mean really no where all year then he wins 5 out of 10 cup races, I say its another Chevy conspiracy... Or, Was he really that good.?.
I think what helped the 14 team was that because they thought they were out of it going in they decided to go all out and go for wins. That meant gutsy calls (the win at Loudon was a fuel mileage gamble) and aggressive driving.
Tony used to be too cautious on restarts, then one day he decided he was just going to drive crazy like everyone else. His restarts at Homestead were incredible.
Everyone else going in that had a legitimate shot at the title took a more conservative approach, IMO. The focus wasn't on maximizing wins, it was on limiting that one bad race. We hear it in the media as the Chase evolved over the years. Everyone was concerned about limiting their bad races, not necessarily going out and winning at all costs.
The 14 team really took a different approach and just edged out Carl at the end. If you think about it, they had at least two real crappy races in the Chase... Dover and another track that I can't remember... both finishes outside of the top 25. Had their luck been better and they walked away with top 10s then the final race wouldn't have been close.
But then again if they held the lead that could have shifted their approach from aggressive to conservative and Carl or someone else might have stepped up to come from behind and win it.

I mean, the way he was passing everybody, it seemed like his car has at least 50-100 hp more than everyone else.
Remember once he was up front him and Carl were about even. Whoever was out front at the time was generally faster.
I know the Ford guys will probably cry foul, but I think Tony and crew just had the perfect race. The 99 team just wasn't aggressive enough.
