Meguiars makes a great wheel cleaner that sprays on and then rinses off with water.....kicks butt on brake dust....they also have a great tire shine that looks WET!

I use Greased Lightning Orange Blast Wheel Cleaner. It really knocks the brake dust off and is safe on painted and unpainted wheels.

Eagle 1 A2Z, in the orange bottle. Spray the entire tire sidewall, wheel and inner fender well. Scrub the tire with a stiff plastic bristled brush, a wash mitt for the wheels and inner liners, rinse and move on

Eagle 1 All Purpose (the orange bottle) is by far the best product I've ever used. I go though tons of the stuff. Many people I know love it as well.

Magiuer's has some real nice products. My wife, for Christmas purchased a whole cleaning/ waxing kit from their website. I could be those guys spokesman, because there stuff rocks. Their waxes, plastic/rubber protectants, cleaners, and tire shine oh my. Good stuff

soap, water and good old fashioned elbow grease. The newer aluminum wheels are clear coat finished. You should treat them like paint on your car. Wash them with mild soaps, use a gentle brush or sponge and even wax them occasionally.

If you still have trouble getting the brake dust off, try this cleaner.

Griot's Garage

These guys are expensive, but, very good. I haven't tried zaino yet, but, most car shows I have been to use Griot's or Zaino. Start looking and asking around the shows in your area.

OF course, meguiar's and Mother's also make very good products.

Will any of these wheel cleaner products harm the brake disk pads? Back when I had rims on my Camry, I used to use the tire shine stuff and wasn't too careful where I sprayed a few times. When I had my pads replaced last summer, the brake tech said my pads were contaminated with an "oil-like" substance. Doh!

So far with my 'stang, I just spray a rag with some Meguiar's quick detail stuff in the red bottle and wipe away. But if there is some spray and rinse stuff that's safe for the brakes, I'd like to know too. Thanks!

It's really funny how people use Meguiar's products and can't even spell it properly.

I've tried Mr. Clean Magic Eraser on my Bullitts and it cleaned up the brake dust really good. Even got a bunch of dirt off the tires as well. You'll probably go through two Eraser bars on all four wheels. Just remember to wax the rims afterwards.

I recently purchased a bottle of Blue Coral wheel cleaner, and later this month, I'll give my verdict on it.

I've used the Blue Coral and I still ended up working with a rag a little bit. It's by no means a "spray, rinse, walk away" product.

I needed wheel cleaner and the only place open at the time was a Shoprite supermarket so I bought Prestone's wheel cleaner. The BEST I've ever used. It works great! Very little brake dust is left to scrub off after spraying on/hosing off. In fact, "scrub" is the wrong word, more like "wipe" off.. no elbow grease required. Just goes to show more expensive isn't always better and it even received POPULAR MECHANICS's 2003 Editor's Choice Award.
