You are kidding?
Once that spectacular New car smell is gone, you are screwed. Thats why I love just sitting in the other mustang- just to smell.
BUT I like febreeze for mine.

From a source, I'm told that the new car smell is actually the "GLUE" they use inside the automobile that gives it that new car smell.
If thats the case, I'd get the thing of glue that ford uses, put it on a piece of carboard and lay it in the car and let the smell of the glue spread in the car to give it that new car smell again.
anyone know if thats true?

Ionic Breeze for the car. Plugs into the dash outlet, and has a throughput so I can plug my radar detector in still.
I leave it on at night, 15,000 miles nearly later and it's new car smell every time I get into the car.

Watch out for some of those car air fresheners. They have solvents in them that can melt the plastic if they come in contact.
The new car smell is a toxic mixture of chemicals evaporating away. Apparently it is pretty bad for you. To keep the car smelling nice I try and keep it clean, treating the leather seats with zaino and using carpet cleaner helps a lot.

Like Galaxie said, be careful with some of the car fresheners, specifically the ones with some type of liquid inside a containerr. I have seen this type of air freshener literally break open and the liquid ruin the vinyl on the interior.

Ford service dept cleaned my brand new carpets for some reason and I almost threw up on the way home. Those mats were history the next day and then got new ones. The prob w/recycled air is that it gets stale real fast so you gotta air it out for a minute with it running..Meguires leather wipes for me

Does that fabreeze really work? I keep my car pretty clean inside but if I carry fast food or pizza in it, it will smell like it for a couple days. Usually when people get in, I don't use any air freshner at all, they claim they smell the leather, which I can no longer smell.
The new car smell is a combination of the plastics, carpets and glues used. The stink from the heater when I first bought it I could do without, took a good year or so for that to go away. The engine also stuck for a few months after buying it, I imagine thats solvents and such from the manufactuering process.
