wax on black trim around windows

How the heck can you get it off? I have tried everything soap, adhesive remove, Alcohol. Even went to a detailing car wash. They said I need to dye it........It's just wax, come on now! Something must take it off. HELP!

The soft trim around the windows? Try quick detailer. On hard plastic try a pencil eraser(the white drafting eraser type that's kinda rubbery-its a vinyl/plastic eraser), you can get em from Staples by the drafting tools.

What did you have one around? Just avoid the normal pencil erasers and especially the old grey 'pen' erasers(like on the elementary school pink/white ones) as they are too harsh. You can use them gently, but pick up a vinyl eraser for next time and you can crank away with them they won't ever scratch. Although our plastic is very heavilly textured so its not such a worry like something smooth like a Wrangler fender flare(although those turn grey/white no matter what you do).

Get the "art gum" eraser. Or mothers back to black, which works well but the white seems to come back after a month or so.

I am a big fan of using Back-to-Black on the trim before waxing -- kills two birds with one stone.

+1 on Back To Black. I got a bottle of this stuff, and it took ALL the wax off the splash guards I have on the rear, and around the windows. Great stuff. Definitely should be in everyone's detail kit!

Thanks for all the replies guys,I used a simple eraser I've had for years, and it probably cost me 10cents. Made the black look brand new too! I had no clue about that little trick and I've been driving for 40 years! WOW!

A bit extreme maybe, but i redyed mine with kiwi leather dye.Go ahead and laugh, but 3 months later it still looks brand new and looks black instead of weathered grey like it came.

I got a kit at autozone- mothers I think- has a few little scrubbers and whatnot- the one that takes wax off is a rather stiff bristle nylon brush- bristles are really fine, but dense and only about 3/8 inch long- rub it over and wax comes right out of the grain...
my wife waxed her new avalanche a few months ago...thank God for that little brush
