Should I wax my 2005 GT when I first pick it up or is it best to wait a little while?

By the way this is my 100th post

yeah i was told something similar by my dealer. give it a bit of a wait to make sure the paint has completely cured. i've got some zaino bros. ready to roll on my baby ASAP.

since my car was built in early september...i'm sure the paint is dry by now. so unless your car was built and delivered w/in the last week i'd imagine you'd be ok.

Wax it.

I hear good things about Zaino Brothers, but I have not used it myself. I am getting good results with Meguiars NXT Tech Wax.

Generally a body shop will tell you to wait 2 weeks before waxing a car after its been painted. I would guess 2 weeks from the day it was built would be fine as well.

I was just reading a report tonight that advised today's auto paints are totaly chemically cured within 30 hours of factory application. Final "air drying" is no longer a consideration and in fact oxidization begins when the car leaves the factory. The recommendation was to slap a protective coat of wax to your new pupppy at the first opportunity.

Wonder why they tell you to wait...? Those kinds of paints dry in less than 30 mins. Id say you should be able to wax it in less than a week. Not a bodysho guy but Ive used that kind of paint on models before and I rub out the paint and wax it in less that a week with no visible signs of damage.
