I've found that a light polishing compound will help remove swirls. I've heard of, but never used, wax bars that can be used to help remove swirl marks as well. The best thing you can do is use a high quality wash, wax, and rags to clean, wax, and buff your car as it helps prevent making them in the first place.

CLAY?
Ive had really good luck with a product called "Nu Finish" Ive used on a couple cars over the years and this stuff really makes them shine and has zero swirl marks after. It says can be done in direct sun,but ive always done in garage.I get a new soft cloth and get the cloth wet and then squeeze all the water out so cloth is just damp to touch.I then apply a small amount of polish to cloth and do a area of about two square feet.I let polish dry about two minutes and then rub of with another clean dry cloth.I repeat this till car is done. (i change wet cloth with new wet one if cloth gets to much dirt build up).

Some times when I've waxed a new car undre certain light it looks like swirl marks or fine scratches. Does anyone else get this and how do you prevent it?

I went to AutoZone yesterday and bought everything I needed for my "wash and wax kit." I came home and started washing right away, but then I realized there was no car under my hose. I'm ready when it shows up, for sure.

I don't know derynf, I really like the mustangs but, Fords paint is not so good. I noticed it on a redfire and a torch red that I saw at dealers. yet, when I looked at some other Ford cars I didn't see the orange peel. Maybe it's a problem at that plant. I wonder if the Mazda 6 is that bad. Maybe call Ford and express your concern. I hope more people do. If they don't get better by the spring I may just skip it completely.
Yeah, I noticed orange peal on a V6 in the show room at a local dealership, I kind of share Highlander's concerns. I was also planning on ordering in the spring, but I might also give it a second thought.....
