Thumbs up

I noticed on each of my Bullitts that there is a small strip of yellowish tape residue on the rim that comes off brittle if I scratch it off with a fingernail. What's the safest way to clean it off without damaging the clear coat?

I used a product called "un-du", which I swear by. They have a web site: www.un-du.com.

Goo Gone is safe and will remove it. Let it soak in a little.

I used my fingernail and soap and water on two of them till I didnt have any fingernails anymore. My wife saw me and brought me a bottle of "Goof-Off". I applied a little to the last two and it wiped right off.
I then used soap and water to remove the goof off residue.
Soooo buy a bottle of that stuff and save your fingernails. I think Wal Mart carries it around their paint section. It made it sooooo easy.

Use a little wax and let dry. It will turn pretty much to dust!

Goo gone, lighter fluid, wd40, gasoline, pretty much any petrolium. But wipe it off then clean it well right after, then rewax the area.
