Taking off stripes on a car

Would this be a wise thing to do? Could the use of chemical hurt your paint job? Dealer body shop said they could do so but it would possibly not hold same value on trade in. I am looking at a black 2012 gt auto to do this to and trade mine in. I seen one the other day with them, looks weird with the wide and 2 small stripes down the center. They come on the car as a option?

Thanks
Mark

As I understand it they mostly use heat guns and a ton of time to remove stripes. If its done right and the paint under the stripe matches the rest of the paint it shouldnt be a problem. If its a new car the paint should still match.

The only issue would be paint fade. But I wouldn't think a new car would be noticably faded, if at all.
