After spending 4 hrs washing, drying, waxing, less than 24 hours later, my car is covered in dust. (Partially because of construction accrosss the street I think). Would using a swiffer on the outside of the car be a good idea? Would it cause scratches? Does it have a residue that could eat away at the paint?

You can give it a try. It doesn't contain paraffin wax like the California Duster has.

Personally, I prefer the Zwipes microfiber duster. It's lighter than the CA Duster and is washable. Not to mention that it's under $6.
