I just got a chip this morning a rock flew up bounced off the center of my hood and then my window. Its not super huge about 1/4 - 1/2" because of how the rock scuffed it, I can't tell if its down to the primer or if its just the clear. you can see its discolored and can feel that its not super deep.
I was wondering if it is just clear can it be buffed and a small amount of clear applied to just fix the chip, or is this really impractical and expensive. Or I was thinking about going with a chip repair place that uses an airbrushing technique to fill the chip and blend it in, which is fairly inexpensive. I have touchup, but right in the middle of the hood if I did it with my unsteady hand it would probably be about as noticable as the chip itself.
Any advice is appreciated
Thanks

I'm in the same boat... I have a tiny knick right by my driver side wash-sprayer from a friendly present bouncing off of the car infront of me. Mine appears to be pretty deep but very small.

Try lightly sanding on it with some hgih grit sandpaper and then using some rubbing compound on it. If its just the clear it should be okay. If its a chip down to the primer look into one of those Duplicolor 2'n1 Scratch Fix things.
