Light Scratch In My Paint! Need Advice!

I got out and washes/detailed my car today since it was finally nice out here in PA, and what do i find? A scratch...Its a light one but still a scratch none the less. Any advice on how to get rid of it? I dont want to risk any more damage to my paint, but this scratch is driving me crazy and I have to get rid of it.

Eric, I haven't had my stang long enough yet to get a scratch, but I'm sure the day is coming. If you drive it, it's bound to happen. I remember the first scratch I put in my new truck in 03', and I DID IT! I was washing it, and picked up something in the mit and drug it right across the paint. I'm not an expert, but here's what I would do. If it's through the clearcoat and into the primer...well, not good. If its not too deep, you can try a light rubbing compound by hand, then re-wax. Be aware though that you will be taking your clearcoat off with it. That's what it does. If it REALLY bothers you, take it to a detail shop and get their opinion. If they don't think they can fix it, it may be to the body shop you go. (Get the wallet ready). I said all that to say this; if that scratch bugs you, then don't try to touch it up yourself with paint, cause you ain't gonna like that either. Good luck, Carl

Seems like it's "scratch day" on the Mustang board!

Use Meguiars ScratchX - just use a little bit on a small area. If that doesn't remove it, nothing else you can do will work - you'll need to bring it to a professional.
