What is the best leather seat protection that will not give that shinny look, I'd like something that would keep them like original for a long time...

 

I use the Meguiar's Gold Class SPRAY. I would NOT recommend any type of cream, because it will just get stuck in the perforated leather.

is that the spray u were referring to? because im hesitant of all leather treatments for the same reason as dineau. dont want that shiny look to my seats

 

Zaino Z-16. UV40 protection, satin finish, that's only slightly glossy and dry to the touch.

 

I've been using Zaino leather in a bottle. The rear vinyl seats have a shine, but the front leather seats soak it right up and are not glossy or oily.

 

I have a brand new bottle of Z-10 (Leather in a Bottle), but I'm hesitant on using it after 89Trooper took off some red dye off his Crimson leather!

We contacted Sal Zaino about this and he said that some types of leather dyes will lift. He also mentioned that using Z-16 is a safe alternative and offers similiar protection.

It does make the seats a little shiny, but it's absorbed fairly quickly as soon as the car is placed outside (and as soon as your butt wipes the excess off)

 

I have not noticed this problem, but thanks for the heads up! Can't be too careful with these Stangs. I've been using a reddish cloth to apply it, I'll try a white cloth next time to see if it's "lifting". Thanks again! (sure will miss that leather smell from the Z10)

 

I use meguires leather wipes but it comes out shiny.

 

I use Zymol leather cleaner then Zymol leather conditioner, it doesn't make the leather look shiny at all.

Most cleaners seem to take the surface dye right off the leather.
Rubbing alcohol can do the same thing if you're not careful.

According to 303, their Aerospace Protectant is supposed to work on finished leather. I use 303 Aerospace Protectant for plastic, vinyl, EPDM rubber, and other surfaces. It's highly recommended for tonneau covers as well (303 makes a Fabric Guard that is supposed to work VERY well on cloth convertible tops as well as sun umbrellas in lawn furniture sets).

I used the 303 on my Wheelskins leather wheel covers and so far, it works. It initially leaves a shiny "film", but if you wipe off the excess with a dry rag and let it dry overnight, the leather doesn't feel slick and doesn't look any shinier than it did before. 303 is supposed to contain UV inhibitors.

I use the Fabric Guard for my Stang's cloth seats (is supposed to last a LOT longer than 3M's Scotchgard), and the Aerospace protectant for the EPDM rubber door seals, vinyl dash, plastic underhood surfaces, and anything that isn't metal or cloth.

 

I use the leather treatment wipes by Armor All. It does leave a shine but I go over the seats with a soft micro fibre towel and wipe off the excess to get rid of the shine. You do want to condition the leather or it will dry out crack and fade fast. My windows are also tinted to protectect the interior from the sun and I keep my garage heated during the winter to keep the harsh cold from damaging the seats.

 

I use the Megs leather wipes, very good. Lexol is also a great product.

no ise in trying anything else. the biggest difference i see. right after use, the leather isnt shiny or slick, just a deeper color and nice feel. smells like leather too.

I use Lexol in the orange spray bottle to clean it, then King Ranch Leather Conditioner to condition

 

I used a product called 'Miracle Guard Leather Conditioner' which was given to me by the furniture store where I bought my $2,000 leather sofa. It is awesome and easy to use. It is a creamy/liquidy type....leaves no residue anywhere, including perforations after drying....and it is not glossy at all. They also gave me a bottle of 'Miracle Guard Leather Cleaner' as well.

 

I use the brown bottle of lexol leather conditioner. It soaks in nicely and when you buff it out it leaves a nice matt gloss. I've used it for years and like it very much. The cleaner they sell in the orange bottle also worked well on the light tan interior in my '02 GT. This new one is black so I haven't needed a cleaner.

 

+1 on the Zaino. I have used it on my red seats with no problems. I looks even better on my Mountaineer's grey seats that have a little wear on them.
