Keeping the engine clean?

TMS, does anyone have any tips, techniques, or suggested products to keep your engine showroom clean?

I would say wipe it down and never ever pressure wash it.

Someone else should chime in with what's best to use as a degreaser or solution.

I'm no expert, but I use P21S cleaner or Optimum No Wash and follow with Chemical Guys Black on Black

Never Pressure Wash, ever!

I've used these products before, it's not the best, but it's a quick fix!

I'd still recommend it

I agree on not pressure washing. That is a forceful spray and has very high PSI near the tip...high enough to actually cut things. It also could damage sensors, COP's, tear up coatings (may even remove them ), and the water would migrate into everything. There used to be a time on early iron models where you could do this, and then get out a spray can of Ford Blue engine paint and fix 'er back up without making a mess, but those days are over with these new cars. I would never get a pressure washer near an engine bay...it could be a very hard and expensive lesson.

You can use some full strength or diluted Simple Green, let it sit for about 5/10 minutes and wash it off.
Try and agitate the dirt using a soft brush, Boar's Hair brush and then rinse again.
