Have not used anything but soap and water on my 05 but on my 98 because you could see 2 feet of pipe I used an SOS pad. Did not scratch it and got off all the crap.

On my '98, I used an SOS pad and acetone. The acetone takes all the stuck-on tar off without harming the stainless, but for God's sake don't get it on the paint!

If I can make a sugesstion.....spend a little{about $150} ans get yourself a set of crhromed exhaust tips from Ford. It look grest, easy to keep clean, and fills up those flared embossments on the rear bumber very nicley. Take a look at my gallery if you would like to view.

Good luck!!

I tried the brillo pad trick today and the tips look great! I even did the back of the mufflers and they're now nice and shiny!

:bang: Pleeeeeaaaase DON't use Brillo pads.
Its made from carbon based steel. Small tiny particles may be left on your shiney pipes. These will then pit and eventually cause RUST spots from the brillo.
Use a scotchbrite pad and good cleaner.
If the tips get bad there is a product on line http://www.maasinc.com/products.html that works wonders

There is nothing wrong with using SOS pads...I used them for 7 years twice a week and the pipes looked like new until I sold the car. ..just rinse well..geez. :bang:
