Wink

I found this on a diy website:
Scrape off as much as possible, dab with white spirit or methylated spirit, then use carpet or upholstery shampoo.

I've never tried it so i don't know how well it works but its worth a try!

Used "ArmourAll Oxi Magic Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner "
to remove permanent blue Marker from light grey vinyl
Door Panel on my SporTrac. Soaked a towel with it and rubbed spot
then left it on spot over night. Took about 4 nights to get it out.

Might work on Shoe polish stain, remember to test First.

PS; the mark was put on by an Oil Change Jockey and their guy from the detail Shop could not remove it.

Too late. Happened to my friends rag top on his Scout. Except they put shaving cream as a joke. But after a few minutes it's done it's damage. New tops are expensive. Sorry.

The convertible top on the 2005 ponies are made of a treated canvas-like material rather than vinyl. I would also be interested in what should be used to clean and maintain these tops.

I would call an upholestry shop and see what they say. You have probably already done some harm no need to make it worse.

OMG, now that was a very immature thing to do. If someone did that to my car they would no longer be my friend. Good luck with that. Anyway, I'd have her bring the car in to an upholstery place. They might know how to remove it but I am willing to bet that since it is a canvas type material that it might be stained forever.

What would induce someone to do that to someone else's car (a nice car, at that)? What kind of friends are you?

Sorry, but this really boils my blood......tainiting someone's very nice Mustang....joke or not. Putting show polish on windows?

If I were you, I'd offer to replace the top. It's going to be expensive, but I wouldn't accept anything less. Someone, somewhere is going to tell you they can remove the stain, but it's going to take some harsh cleaners. More than probably, the cleaning will leave some sort of mark itself.

I dont know about where you live, but when I priced new vert tops here, they are typically in the $600 to $1000 range

You guys need to relax.....people put shoe polish on windows and stuff all the time. Any time my little cousin wins in soft ball they put shoe polish all over the windows. I don't think she thought something like this would happen....and actually its the first time i have seen it happen.

Just try some of the suggestions here, one of those should get it off, if not you're looking at about a grand installed for a new top.
