got my car egged...

Hello all!

Got home and found my car had been hit by an egg. Dont know why someone would do that, but there is was...

- anyone of you guys know how to get it off?
It kind of stained it even after a good wash. There is kind of an layer still on the car and I need to use something to take it off.

Anyone know of any good products, that wont hurt my paint?

Thanks, all!

When this happened to me, I found that bug and tar remover worked really well. Just be sure to apply it out of the sun.

hopefully the shell did not chip/crack the paint. I had a car that was egged years ago and the paint was severely chipped.

You can try a clay bar to see if will remove the egg. Just remember to keep the surface lubed.

well, here we go again.....got the car egged a 2nd time! ARRRGH!!!!! Seems that my neighbors have had the same visitors on Saturday night. Saw egg shells on their parking lots too.

And this time I think my paint job on the rear bumper got damaged too. Paint seems to have chipped off in very small spots. Can egg shells really hurt that bad???

Anyway, anyone got any real good stuff to recommend to get residues off? I think I could wash most of it away, but I need something good to treat the surface just to be sure that it is gone; something that is safe for the black coating?

Thanks!

...getting tired of eggs.

Eggs are acidic. If you had a couple of coats of wax you may be OK, if not it'll eat the clearcoat and mar the paint. Try Claybar, or a fine scratch removal, and buffing it. If that doesn't work... looks like a paint job to me.

That sucks, I don't know where you live, but I'd be having a conversation with my neighbor about their visitors. Next time they were there, I'd pay them a visit. That's crap, and fortunately an issue I haven't had to deal with. Sorry I can't help.

It was probably a kid. Some one threw hot chocolate on my truck and my fiance's car last week. I just wish I could have seen them doing it because I would have rubbed there F***ing face in it, sorry for the lingo.

It still hasn't come off my window's.

Thanks guys, I think I got most of it off. This time I got to clean it directly in the morning and I used some Scratch X afterwards. Seems ok when looking at it.

I'd get a few coats of good wax on your car to help protect the paint against any future eggings. If your car is parked outside overnight, maybe put a car cover on it. I'd also do what I could to see who is doing this. Then call the cops and pay the vandals a visit with the police officer. Good luck, unfortunately there are people in this world who do not respect other peoples property.

^^^ +1

Sorry to hear that, my truck was egged about 3 years back and I had to have the passenger side A pillar re painted. Get some wax on there, and see if the shine is the same as on a area that did not get hit, if it looks messed up you may need the whole area re-clear coated.

Sorry to hear about this I have had my cars damaged before and it is very frustrating. Since moving to where I currently live in Womelsdorf which is a very small community the police officers know all of the trouble makers very well so chances of getting away with something are very slim. That and one of my best friends is a patrolman there too.

Aside from attempting to fix your car, you need to make a police report. It's still not too late. It will be documented and needs to be in case this occurs again and they do find out who did it they have previous occurences to refer to.
