First Wax timing?

I have been told that you should let the paint cure for 1-2 months before detailing, clay bar, and waxing the car. Have any of you heard this?

Are you referring to a recently painted car? If so then I suggest going by what the paint shop says. When I had damage to my Mustang repaired I was told not to wax the vehicle for 90 days and to try to keep it as clean as possible (its in my fathers garage right now). I would suggest going by what they say to be on the safe side. And when you wash it be gentle.
You don't have to wait because the paint should have had time to cure in the factory. You could wax it the day you buy it. Only if you get it repainted should you have to wait that long.
I emailed Meguires about how long you should wait before waxing a new car and they responded by telling me to wait two months from when it was built to give the paint time to cure. So I've been washing her with Meguires Gold Class car wash and when the two months is up I will wax her with Meguires Gold Class car wax. Just thought I'd pass on the info from the people at Meguires.
Because I don't want to pay that much. By the time I get the Zaino kit in Canada, after shipping and stuff you are talking around $240.00. I spend less than $30.00 on Meguires NXT and I bet the results are very close to Zaino's.

From the factory, a car's paint finish is baked at 400F for about 30 minutes or more for the paint to cure. Oftentimes they are wetsanding any imperfections a few hours after the car has come out of the booth. IMO you have no problem polishing out the car right away.
On a respray, I would wait about a month or more before applying wax. They cannot bake the paint as well as in the factory.
