It's hard to see where the line is in all but a couple of those shots. Does it cover just the hood or is the bumper covered too?

Yeah it is very hard to see the line. I mean, you have to be looking for it. It covers that much up on the hood. It also covers the whole front bumper, and that is even harder to see. And you can see that it covers some of the front part of the wheelwell.

I am going to have them put a piece on the back part of the bumper right where the trunk comes down. I have seen so many cars where people get stuff out of the trunk and it scratches that part of the bumper.

how much did this cost? Did you pay to have it installed? How much for that?

Well I kind of got a package deal from the place. I am getting the windows tinted and this stuff put on for $1000 parts and installation. It is being put on by a shop in Sterling, VA that does car work for the local Ferrari, Maserati, and Porsche dealerships. It was a little pricey, but it all comes down to how much you get put on. So for this, I think it alone was $850. There was another store near that would do it for $699, but they weren't putting as much on.

Oh and I suppose you could put it on yourself...but I definitely know I would have messed it up.

I got the full 3M kit from Invinca-Shield a couple weeks ago. I put the critical bumper pieces and behind-the-wheel pieces on weekend before last and got the front fender caps/hood end pieces on last weekend. Hood piece and rear bumper pieces are next. Not sure if I'm going to do the above-the-windshield and the A pillar pieces. Or the gas flap piece. Oh, forgot about the door-handle-cup pieces (NOT looking forward to installing those!).
You definitely have to have a LOT of patience to install this stuff. Definitely worth paying someone $200.00 to install!! Make sure you get to see some of their prior work!! I couldn't find anyone in Vancouver that I trusted to do the job so I tackled it myself. I screwed up the lower-center bumper piece which I will have to replace. The base kit and the deluxe kit came to $594 USD I think. I'll try and take some pics and post them. It's nearly invisible and preferable for me over a bra for a daily driver. Plus I didn't much care for the look of the bra on the Redfire GT. I use a bra on my '93 Limited Edition Convertible which is a show/summer-weekend car and thus can baby the area between the bra and the paint. Plus the black bra really accents the Yellow Fox-body!

Yep I agree. It's worth the time and effort to let someone do it.
Plus if they mess up, they can just recut the stuff and try again. We would have to buy more film and spend more time doing it.

The 3M stuff works great - had it on a LS, Eclispe, Civic and my 05 Stang. Works really well. Better than the old style I had on Firebirds.

For that money I'll just live with the rock chips. The first one is the worst, then you get over it. That's why I'm buying in spring so I can have at least one nice summer.

I suppose another consideration is what would happen in the event of an accident? If you had to get body damage to the front repaired then this product would presumably have to be reapplied for the same money again. So in my case the $500 deductible could end up costing $1400!

Ahhh...bug splatter....Doh! We need shields for our vehicles!!!

Oh and if you are in an accident and the front gets messed...well, hopefully you don't hit the person and the car isn't totalled, because then it is the hitters responsibility to fix it!

So drive safe and hope for bugs, not cars.

Somebody call PETA!

Bug splatter stinks around here, especially if you go down to the NH beaches. Bugs come off with Bug Off, rock chips don't.
